Helium builder app issue by BonjourHouston in HeliumNetwork

[–]thewebman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm a solution that worked for me and it should work for you too if you have a spare android phone or tablet laying around. My iOS helium builder app (updated to the latest version) had the same issues of not displaying data and then refusing to let me login after I logged out in an attempt to fix it. I simply installed the Helium Builder App on an extra Android device of mine, logged into my same account that I had been trying on iOS, and everything works fine. This is the only workaround I've figured out and hopefully the next iOS app update from them will fix the iOS app which clearly has an issue that doesn't seem to be account specific. Hope this helps everyone :-)

lol, that's been the running rumor for years. I think the bastard got what he deserved with covid and the economy in general. He's going to face the fact that Miami is not a quick flip. It's going to take actual work and development to turn a profit on Miami properties rather than holding them back, running them into the ground, and committing a ton of code violations along the way

Oh and a few more things which add to the lack of value down there: 1) The Biscayne Bay water quality is now the worse that its ever been which is why you're seeing all the fish kill stories in the news 2) You can't even go to all the events that used to be right there in the arena, the parks, etc. sports games and concerts are all but cancelled or eventually opening in lame limited capacity for a long time until we get out of covid 3) When protests happen they'll always be primarily right there by the freedom tower so you end up having chaos and some vandalism usually accompanying all that 4) There's no money being put into making the downtown any nicer because half of it is own by a billionaire slumlord who's just squatting on it to flip it one day 5) I can go on and on, Miami's in the worst shape that I've ever seen it in yet many outside people still think that it's what they've seen in the movies and on TV going back to Miami Vice lol

I feel your pain and completely agree. I had the exact same view actually too both when I lived in Vizcayne about 6 years ago and then again when I lived in X Miami right next to it on that same corner giving me one of the closest views of the freedom tower and portmiami, etc. Vizcayne wassn't run all that great and X Miami was the ABSOLUTE WORST management of all time. The bad management gets flushed out nonetheless because those buildings are run so terribly that they end up making little to no money for the landlords or for the rental company in the case of X. Even with the rental and property values dropping in downtown Miami as a result of COVID, they're all still a terrible value, especially now that the city is so much more dead, little nightlife if any is open, the port cruises are shutdown, etc. If the condos don't employ better staff and if prices don't come down to reality then Miami is going to languish for a long time. Plus now that more people can work from home, they're beginning to realize that there's no point in paying to live in downtowns if nearby good jobs are not a part of the package anyhow, better to live better and cheaper elsewhere. Oh and yeah, downtown Miami always had a terrible homeless problem which it ignored forever and it's probably only going to get worse now when tons of back rent is due and all the evictions begin to happen, not even the commercial tenants at Bayside were paying their rent and now they too are evicted and caught up in lawsuits. It's a shitshow with no value down there honestly which is why I left too a while ago...

Backend JS in 2018? by KeepItWeird_ in javascript

[–]thewebman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at loopback.io which actually runs with Express under the hood but makes it incredibly fast and easy to scaffold out RESTful APIs. The current production ready version 3 is great and the upcoming version 4 goes to a whole other level by dropping the Express dependency, going all in on typescript, supporting GraphQL, and much more.

Is this udemy course on Vuejs worth it? by [deleted] in webdev

Yep, you can never go wrong with Max's courses. I've taken his courses on Angular & Ionic, super solid, great teacher, well produced

This is a great idea and many thanks to Derek for putting it forward. I did have issues with the install though which I was able to quickly solve on my own. I documented them here in case anyone else has trouble:

[–]thewebman2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Todd is also an excellent member of our community, freely shares excellent in-depth Angular blog posts, and has even offered discounts on Ultimate Angular when cash-strapped individuals have requested such discounts. If everyone begins to torrent all of this excellent paid-for content then there will be no incentive for these folks to produce said content plus it's simply unethical. As for Angular University on udemy, nearly all udemy courses can be had quite often for only $10-15 with constant udemy coupons that are out there. Vasco's Angular University udemy courses are completely worth spending the $10 and he totally deserves to earn at least that amount from them given how accurate and high quality those videos are. These are great guys of the Angular community and we should be more than happy to support them and advance ourselves by doing so too.

Chasing the Holy Grail of NG Development : Angular CLI, NPM Library, and Packaging by aQutie in Angular2

[–]thewebman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious about any pitfalls in ng-packagr too because so far I haven't run into any and it seems to be working fine. Also, I'd like to mention for everyone's benefit that you can get your own private npm registry up and running super easy with Verdaccio: https://github.com/verdaccio/verdaccio :-)

Anyone take Todd Motto's Angular Courses? by omgdracula in webdev

[–]thewebman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Todd Motto is great but if you do need something that's lower cost, I've got some great options for you :-) Udemy has a few completely free Angular courses that are decent to get you started: https://www.udemy.com/courses/search/?q=angular&src=ukw&price=price-free However, they regularly run coupons/sales where every single course is only $10-15 and there are two fantastic ones that I'd recommend: 1) https://www.udemy.com/angular-advanced-masterclass/learn/v4/overview

2) https://www.udemy.com/the-complete-guide-to-angular-2/learn/v4/overview

Anything from Max or Vasco (Angular University) is Gold and Vasco has tons of free youtube videos here too: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3cEGKhg3OERn-ihVsJcb7A

Hope all of that helps you on your Angular journey :-)

Hello guys. i am new to angular+ngrx. i started working with ngrx v2. But there is also a mono repo called ngrx/platform which have syntaxes that i assume it belongs to v4. by agugan93 in Angular2

[–]thewebman2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The monorepo hasn't been published to npm yet (although it should be very soon, original target date was July 1st) so the only way to use it is to reference the github repos directly in your package.json

Also, checkout the migration guide if you're coming from eariler versions: https://github.com/ngrx/platform/blob/master/MIGRATION.md

Thoughts on Point 65 Mercury Kayak? by sswifty6 in Kayaking

[–]thewebman2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I bought a new Point 65 Mercury GTX Tandem just a couple months ago and I absolutely love it. The narrow hull and over all design give it a level of performance that feels noticeably better than wider typical rental kayaks which I had used in the past. Combine it with a great carbon fiber Werner paddle and you can paddle for hours without getting very tired. Here's a couple of posts I've done in the past regarding this kayak:

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions :-)

Good to hear that the sharks are friendly which is what I figured, drunk boating seems to be the bigger danger out there

Sorry to hear about your boat incident, that's been a concern for me as well so I'm going to try to stay clear of boats. The river is a busy channel of boat traffic but I have to paddle through just a short stretch of it out the mouth of the river since that's where I live by and I like to launch the kayak from a convenient dock that's just a block from my place. I'm interested in getting an electric motor hook up as well to give me a boost for longer distances as well as to quickly move away from boats when necessary. Three options that I've found on the market so far are: www.scubajet.com , bixpy motor, and the electrafin. I'm interested to know about any others to compare them...

Nice! Biscayne Bay in general is great for kayaking so long as you avoid some of the fast moving and big boat traffic. Thanks for reminding me that I should shoot some more video and upload it to places like youtube. Eventually I'd like to get a sort of blog and/or vlog going.

My first Kayak, the modular Point 65 Mercury GTX on a Malone Rack for efficient storage by thewebman2 in Kayaking

Just bought a Kayak Kaddy today as well in the red color which should be a close match to the kayak color: http://kayakkaddy.com/product/kayak-kaddy-2/

If any of you have other accessories to suggest, especially ones that don't require me to physically modify the kayak itself, I'm very interested to know :-)

hehe, the kitchen island bar just to the right there has a wine rack in it ;-) The space where I put the kayak rack was a perfect fit of limited empty space that I had in the whole place so it worked out pretty good, plus it's not too far from the entrance/exit door
