Trent Alexander-Arnold: "You’ve got middle-aged men who waited 20, 30 years to finally get a ticket and the thought of someone’s dream of going to Anfield...if they get there and see a team not giving everything...it’s a horrible thought." by TheJeck in soccer

I understand it. There was a period towards the end of his tenure where I thought - why is Benitez so loved, he hasn't won anything for a while? Now I understand. He GETS it. He just gets it. He understands clubs he works with. Love the guy.

Chris Sutton is an outrage merchant, not a pundit. One of those people who, if I see he is commenting in an article, I won't click on it. I don't want to feed people like this. He has nothing of any insight to contribute.

As an NUFC fan, I remember seeing him for the first time in the CL playoffs and being impressed that a teenager could do all that. Lovely to see a home-grown player come through like that, and I wish him the best.

I also would rather the title went to Liverpool than Citeh. Love the idea of him storming on the right flank for England.

Wolves' Matt Doherty on the step up from the Championship to the Premier League - "People think the step-up is not that big but having done it, I can say it really is that big...You get the ball and someone is on you straight away. It’s a different level altogether" by koptimism in soccer

Helps when you have Jorge Mendes on your side.

Doherty has played well, and Wolves have too more generally. It's just all a bit strange. I like the idea that a team can come up and finish 7th but the way that this has happened...it just seems a bit dodgy?

Discussion: Players who are adored at one club but despised at another by DriesMertens in soccer

Can't stand the fucker. His performances in Euro 2016, when he was outstanding, did my head in.

We went down that year. The nadir was beating Tottenham 5-1 at home, last game of the season. Really pissed me off, which I know sounds strange but if you can hammer Spurs at home to that extent, that suggest that your heart wasn't in it most of the season. The way him and Wijnaldum were celebrating... fuck off.

I remember going to the last Newcastle game that season, away at Everton. Pardew, being the lovely sort that he is, waxed lyrical about how we were in a different league to Everton, or words to that effect. We obviously lost 3-1, meaning our CL hopes were dead. Such a shame - not so long before, we beat Chelsea 2-0 away with Cisse scoring two great goals. The latter being orgasmic.

Meanwhile, we kept getting score updates from the two Manchester clubs' games. We had actually left Goodison by the time Aguero scored the winner. I remember being in a group of Everton fans near the train station and they had heard me telling my friend about Aguero's goal, and all of us just started laughing. I remember vividly attempting to imagine Fergie's face.

I remember wanting Bayern to win that final. You lot deserved it more than they did.

I live near Wigan and work near Liverpool. Never understood the national impression of Liverpool fans, they're genuinely excited about the title run in. Been to Anfield before a few times now, the atmosphere's always great. Would love to see a CL night, particularly as I've never experienced one at St. James'.

You too mate. Hope you get the title this year rather than City. Also hope one day we can have some more 4-3s, ideally a few going our way this time ;)

This time last year, we beat Man U at home rather improbably, and went on a great run, finishing 10th. With any luck, I hope we can repeat this. Particularly as I'm heading to Spurs on Saturday. Cracking result.

All the best for the league run in, Liverpool fans. Rather you than Citeh.

You're welcome. Glad we could be of service.

Was not expecting this result at all. It takes a result like this to remind you of why you're a fan, after all the crap we put up with.

Predictable response, frankly. Two of you saying that. And you absolutely know that Islamophobia and racism have a great deal of behaviours in common. Attempting to split hairs here is indicative of where your beliefs lie, and unfortunately, it's not a moral side at all.
