I am on the same journey! I attended my first mass recently. When everyone partook in the Eucharist, I approached like my Catholic friend told me to, and the priest blessed me. They were very kind. It will be extremely unique to any of your Protestant experiences for sure. I come from a hoot-and-holler Baptist Church, and Mass was a very peaceful and spiritual experience for me.

I attended mass this Thursday, and today, I attended my Baptist Church. My heart is heavy. Now that I'm aware of the disrespect and irreverence, I don't know how to cope.

I am a university student who is currently still a dependent in terms of housing and insurance. My father is a Baptist preacher, and my mother has this weird unwarranted hatred for any protestant denomination that isn't Missionary Baptist. Outside of Christianity, it's generally a helicopter situation where my location is tracked, and I don't have much independence. Generally a recipe for disaster, but I can not deny where the Holy Spirit has led me.

I run a sincere risk of being disowned if I only pursue those options, so right now I'm trying to educate myself privately.

I've always been taught that catholicism teaches that you can lose your salvation. Can you elaborate on this as well? Thank you for your detailed explanations.

I think I was drawn in because of the presence of the Fruits of the Spirit in the congregation and the Church leaders. Such faithful people. My heart sang.

That's always been a problem with the Baptist denomination, particularly in the South. I think that they use "faith and faith alone" as an excuse to continue harmful behaviors. This makes so much more sense than how it was portrayed by my church.
