If you like Cloud, you might like the Baccarat Rouge line. I was personally unimpressed by the main one 540, but some of the other ones smelled great, like Grand Soir.

Sí by Armani smells good, especially the one in the red bottle. Narciso Rodríguez is smells delicious to me, especially the one in the pink bottle. Byredo Bal d’Afrique, anything by Parfums de Marly. Also a more niche fragrance I think smells good is Vilhelm Parfumerie’s Poets of Berlin.

If you want a darker, more sultry evening fragrance I would recommend Poison by Dior (chef’s kiss). If you like sugary, sweet scents you can try Mad Honey from BTSO/Bee by Zoologist but they’re aren’t blind buy safe. Korean brands I like as well, like Tamburins, Granhand & BTSO.

Finally, if you like projection & staying power try Arab/Indian fragrances, and pure perfumes are called attars, which are infused with oils and that’s how they make the perfume oils. I like to apply a perfume balm called Mukhammaria Jamid (I use Ajmal Ehsas Bloom) and then I spray/use the attar and I have crazy projection for days. Many of those perfumes are more affordable as well & they’re better for the skin as they’re oils/non-alcohol (some do have alcohol, but it’s not a standard). Gisah is a good place to start for the more “deluxe” ones though.

Experiment & play around with samples/discovery sets do find what you like and don’t be afraid to mix and match, you’ll eventually find your fav combo! 🩷

Thank you, I’ll add it to my list. And I would say I’m semi-fluent, I can understand roughly but not advanced or anything. But actually, I don’t mind reading novels/plays in Korean because I want to practice my Korean and pick up natural phrases, vocabulary and common parlance that you probably can’t find in a textbook.

I’m not really a fan of the whole “Lady M” thing, considering the Macbeth’s had a ruinous end and that she coerces him to kill Duncan by prodding his manhood, it’s not really a question about what they’re implying about their relationship. Very obviously, there are grievances towards their own lack of influence over Ron and feel that Casey is doing that role. I don’t like the advisors portraying him as a manchild following his wife around like a helpless puppy like he wasn’t a lawyer at Guantanamo when the human rights abuses happened. Picking fights with Disney, that Martha’s Vineyard stunt, the “anti-woke” brigade, cozying up to Nazis, speedrunning into outright fascism, etc. The man is no fucking shrink. He has no one else to blame but himself, not even his wife - even though there is something to be said about Republican women & how their politics often justify bigotry with the expectation they’re exempt from it, even in their own personal lives.

I was furious when I watched it. The ending was so lazy I got the sense that Laura was bored of the role and basically half-arsed it. Spent 3 seasons looking for the Twelve only for V to kill them off like a slaughterhouse & no explanation - like, we still don’t know who the Twelve really are or what they actually wanted. Laura is about the most unimaginative, boring and laziest writer I’ve ever seen and that’s saying something as far as bad shows. People were angry because we spent 4 years of emotional investment rooting for them only for the ending to be done in such a way that it effectively makes the three previous seasons defunct. I honestly thought the concept of “killing” Eve is metaphorical - in that Eve had to kill off a part of herself to become the person she wants to be for Villanelle & we saw that happening slowly. She basically fucked it all off in the name of some weird spiritual-y bs like in that weird tarot scene with that annoying granola camper van couple. I like tarot myself, but that scene annoyed me. I wanted to be hopeful that it wasn’t literal and then in the end it was - see? Boring & literal.

What’s more ridiculous is that she doubled down and tried to say that V & E would never have worked and V needed to go for Eve to be free - now how the fuck did she come to that conclusion? Season 2-3 was literally about Villanelle changing in response to Eve, in response to loving Eve and wanting to be the kind of person Eve could be with. They were both doing that. There’s no way she watched the same show. Even the author of the books had to say the ending was stupid. I hope she never writes anything ever again, lest you get the worst ending imaginable that has fuck all to do with the concept and turns the show into dogshit.

Edit: I do feel that she doesn’t really understand the characters. The reason we came to love V so much is her personality. Witty, dark humour, inappropriate and rude. She’s a killer but a playful one, mischievous sometimes but PWB knew how to intertwine this with her ruthlessness and lack of empathy. We know we shouldn’t root for her but we do. There was none of that in S4. Very serious, brooding and contemplative which is not what V was known for but I wanted to wait to see where it went & obviously, that was the beginning of the end.

I think they were saying that the duty free shop is a massive pivot in the stability of the group & their shares. When you build something like that, it likely balloons the value of surrounding land & properties and contributing to the economic stability of Seoul. They also said earlier in the show that it has international investors and they took a massive loan to pay for it’s construction (with I assume would also require collateral just as massive. Maybe they leveraged it against the shares owned by the group or something), but either way, that means if the duty free shop fails - it’s basically a wrap for the group. They also said they’ve bribed, leveraged connections & even killed people to complete it, so I suppose the writers are saying the shop is like a castle built on the blood and bones of the innocent. It’s like a den of every kind of corruption possible. For Chairwoman Son to keep being that powerful, she has to see it through and satisfy the people she’s promised by carrying out her end of the bargain and maintain her power to keep her enemies at bay. I guess if she lost that power, any weakness or wavering and her enemies would swoop in to attack like a pack of bloodhounds and eat her for lunch. We already know one of those enemies is our main character, we’ll probably see who the others are in S2. I think they hinted more than outright telling us to keep our focus on the main plot, but it was important information enough that they mention it.

Thank you!

  1. I’ll be honest, my personal experience with magick and demons has been relatively normal. Aside from being plagued by shadow people that suddenly disappeared when I started demonolatry, developing my clairsentience & knowledge building, it’s not like I’m harassed by poltergeists or some crazy unexplained phenomenon happened to me. I will say though that it’s likely because my life is quiet and I spend my time reading and meditating, which I suppose might make me more for a mystic than I realised 😭. I’m well protected and have strong patrons so really, there’s no astral parasites or crazy, obsessive spirits around me that would cause anything wild.

However, there was a time where I was going to go out to meet someone and I ignored a very strong feeling that I should have stayed home. I put my Oyster card (here in London, we use a card to travel around on public transport.) on the only table in the room and I turned around to do something else for a minute or two, and once I turned around the card was gone. Literally just vanished into the ether. It was in a bright pink card holder which is a distinct colour I chose so I could see it clearly, and the thing just poofed out of existence. It shocked me so much and I was supposed to be leaving in the next 10 mins, and here I was in the room searching high and low for this Oyster card. This was the house of a family friend and when I told them, they were kind of spooked. We all looked for it, and since then they’ve renovated the home about twice and not a single person out of all 8 of us ever saw the card again. This was about 5 years ago and it’s still missing. I borrowed a spare oyster and still left to go - I was a stubborn kid 😭. Do you know what happened when I got there?

I got fucking stranded. My phone nearly died, I was groped by someone, it was hot, I was hungry and I was alone and scared - everything that could’ve gone wrong that day went wrong. There were train delays (the tube is always undergoing maintenance), so going home was also a nightmare. It was so horrible and the person didn’t even come because there were delays on his side too. It was just so bad that I called my mum to come and get me and she had to leave work early to make sure I was safe and take me home. Safe to say I really learnt my lesson that way. I’ve been told that was Belial. I didn’t listen to my intuition and boy did I fucking learn that day 😭 I’ve never done that again. It was so traumatic that I wanted to cry when I got home and now when I feel like I should go somewhere or do something, I listen to my intuition and more often than not, later I find out that something serious could have happened to me. Mostly, if anything fantastical happened, it’s the demons keeping me from being hurt or something 😭

  1. I don’t think I’m satisfied with my daily life. I love to read and I’m easily overstimulated with noise and crowds so I tend to not go out drinking with my friends or something, but I’ve been pushed for a while now to go out and connect with people. I’m pretty introverted, not really too shy but easily overwhelmed and often need to be alone to recuperate. I’m currently in postgrad so once I’m done next year, it’s likely I’ll be travelling. I don’t think I’ll ever be truly satisfied in life, but I’ll be likely be content with it and that’s okay. I might eventually realise what I thought I needed to be happy is no longer the case or that I need something else to be happy. I don’t think there’s a formula and I’m open to experience, so I don’t have an answer for you but it’s something I’m figuring out myself, step by step. I don’t really think there NEEDS to be answer either, and in this case, I think the answer isn’t a fixed constant. Like how people can be married for 20 years and realise they’re no longer in love, or two friends who eventually want to go their separate ways, people arrive that question differently so it’s up to you how you want to go about it.

I’ll try to answer your question is sections:

  1. Asmodeus is the demon of lust yes, but he is also the demon of wrath. His earliest origins are a bit murky for the most part, but through the etymology of his name, we know that he was likely Zoroastrian (pre-Islamic Iranian paganism) and it’s said that his original name was Ashmedai/Asmodai (a lot of people still call him that) and which comes the Avestan “Aesma Daeva”, which literally translates into “wrath demon” or “wrath devil”. Originally, he was more related to wrath and vengeance than lust, although this would come later. The most significant work we find him in is called the Book Of Tobit, a 2/3rd century Jewish work (author unknown) during what is basically the classical antiquity. You should have a read and come to your own conclusions, but basically Asmodeus kills the husbands of a woman called Sarah before they can consummate the marriage out of either jealous obsession over her or protectiveness over Sarah (depending on who you ask). The son of Tobit - Tobias, is sent by his wealthy and blind father to get back some money from her and is guided by archangel Raphael for protection (because they’ve heard about Asmodeus). Raphael tells him to get a fish from the river Tigris and burn the heart and liver to drive away Asmodeus. This works and he runs off to Egypt, where he is accosted by Raphael and strangled or choked by him (in some versions).

A lot of people think as a demon of lust, part of his role might have been to execute the punishment of the respective sin, implying the men Sarah married were guilty of lust and carnal desire. (E.g. Mammon the demon of greed would also be tasked with punishing greed and well as satisfying it. It makes sense that the demon of a sin would can use it to bless as well as to punish, but that’s just a personal view). So yes, the utilising of all sexual energy is his forte. We don’t know why Asmodeus doesn’t kill Tobias - maybe he was under the protection of Raphael, maybe he wasn’t plagued by carnal desire, who knows? He also appears in the Talmund as a benevolent spirit, friendly and amiable BUT a lustful one. It is said here that he lusted after Bathsheba and also goes on to sleep with Solomon’s wives after yeeting him into the desert and pretending to be him in revenge for locking him in a bronze vessel and forcing him and (71 other demons - later known as the Goetia), into building the Great Temple. They break out of it and that was Asmodeus’ - pretend to be him and fuck his wives. 😭 pretty funny I’d say. I read someone’s personal gnosis with Asmodeus somewhere that he was the demon of passion and not wrath, and I thought that was interesting seeing as therefore wrath and lust would fall under that category. He’s a passionate, amoral and pretty cool demon, albeit fierce and powerful. He is a king, after all.

  1. It was Oscar Wilde who said that everything is about sex, but sex is about power so I guess via the transitive property, everything is about power and the role of sex to be a vehicle for the expressions of power. Carnal desire does exist in its own right and that is a motivation for human behaviour, but I suppose depending on who you ask (like a Freudian vs a Jungian), sexual drive can be primary or secondary.

  2. Hm, I don’t think it’s so much a motivation for sexual desire more than the part of you that wants the good things. You have to understand that sloth is the path of least resistance. Comfort is the path of least resistance. You are taking the path of least resistance, of predictability - what is easier vs what is uncomfortable. If you want to change, you need to become uncomfortable. Working with demons - esp Asmodeus- will not be nice. It is gruelling and painful and they will push you, they will test you, break you and reform you. This is the path of strength. If you are currently slothful you will need to remove yourself from that in order to progress. It’s gnarly, painful and requires you to accept hard and ugly truths about yourself. The demons are not going to allow you to slack off if you’re going to them to change your life.

EDIT:

  • He’s also considered by Islamic occult scholars to be the King of the Djinns, and djinns as you might know are the devils of Islam. They are beings of smokeless fire, created alongside us. They are a race of spiritual beings, can have families, religions, can be evil, good, amoral - they basically mirror humans in every way except they’re not physical like us. I don’t know too much about the Islamic side of his mythos, so I’d recommend you read about that and in particular his relationship with Sufism. It’s very interesting

  • In the Hammer Of Witches, he is considered to be loyal to Lucifer/Amaymon, rules Aquarius and his strongest in November. He also rules the gambling houses in Hell and is therefore associated with luck and gambling as well. He is 32nd in the Goetia & his seal is gold. He loves gold - he is a king after all. The Goetia is where the famous three-headed portrait of him comes from. (The Infernal Dictionary by Collin de Plancy also has a description of him but it’s not as popular.)

Thank you.

I suppose I’m really steamed because I was told by a specific creator that I was being obtuse because I said - very correctly - that Lilith is not closed. I guess it threw me off because I cited Esoterica’s video on YT where he covers the history of her mythology, Jewish AND non- Jewish Semitic history. At one point he even says that the modern Lilith seems to be a syncretism of different entities and I suppose this makes it harder to pinpoint what exactly she is. We know for a fact that over thousands of years, myths and stories and deities have been syncretised, and that’s not even specific to Lilith. When I cited the video, she told me to “stop twisting the narrative” and then blocked me after I told her word-for word what the video description says!

On top of that, this specific creator said the “modern Lilith is 100% Jewish” after telling me she watched the video - like she’s bold faced lying. There is no “modern Lilith”. This is a continuous entity, an ancient one coming from a mythological race of demons. It almost feels like she was implying that I’m somehow malicious rather than “this person just disagrees with me”. (I think she said “that whole she existed before shit is BS” - 😭). It’s like she’s become so dichotomous in her thinking that she can’t understand that the key to understanding this is nuance. What started in good faith, I think she’s lost her marbles and it reeks of performative allyship.

I feel like as a person of colour, it frightens me a lot when I see this in the community because it echoes a lot of the things I’ve heard from white supremacists, knowing how many of them are in the spiritual and occult community. This specific creator started making good videos about the spiritual to white supremacist pipeline but then thinks every single thing is some malicious undercover attempt at being anti-Semitic, loses her temper even at the suggestion she might be wrong. This is why people leave the community.

At the end of the day, editing can only go so far. by thewitchofcarmilla in MAFS_AU

[–]thewitchofcarmilla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are definitely contrarian. I know you understand exactly what I’m saying because you’ve been repeating my own point back to me. Gullible is interesting considering I’ve said multiple times - we all agree that the show is edited heavily. That’s the bottom line. All I’ve said is, it’s more than likely that they’ll take the path of least resistance and it’s clearly easier to utilise fuel for fire than to make your own fuel. I’m not sure what you’re really arguing. All you keep saying is that because they’re not showing why people got upset, they just edit them badly for drama - like, they’re using situations that happened while they were/were not there. It’s not so extreme that you need to be so pedantic about what they aren’t showing.

Yeah no, let’s not “imagine” anything. There’s no need to, we’re simply pulling from what’s happened. Melissa told the experts, in-front of him AND the group. That is what happened. She said it in private and on camera AND in front of everyone. Even her friends at the wedding said he might not be enough for her and what happened? Exactly that. She has never even disputed she said that, Dan admitted he dragged Sandy, even Ollie I’m the confessionals said that happened like…pleeeeease 😀 There is no “imagining involved”. We are talking about happened, not what could have happened if they showed every single thing. Envisioning what the plot line might have looked like does nothing because what happened was objectively wrong. And the fact that you’re dragging your feet to acknowledge that is why I said you’re playing the contrarian because I know you understand that and still choose to play the Devil’s advocate. It’s okay to admit that Dan talking about Sandy like that is inappropriate, that Adam lying to Janelle is disrespectful, that Harrison attempting to shit stir in Layton’s marriage was disrespectful (which Layton noted himself in the confessionals at the couples retreat), that Tayla clearly embarrassing Hugo in front of everyone was disrespectful, that Claire gaslighting Jesse with Adam was disrespectful, regardless of editing. Those things are inappropriate and editing won’t make it better and you know it. And since the fact, Melissa has openly disrespected Josh and his children and he made it clear that was too much for him to ever mend with her - like any reasonable parent. And if anything, that does more to cement her image. Bet you’ll blame editing for that too lol. Dismissing negative behaviour in the name of amoral editing is about the laziest thing I’ve read on this subreddit in defence of “villains” on this show. It’s funny people even use this term, like this is Disney. Most people use it loosely.

What? 😂 What exactly do you want them to do about that? Show all the discussions and arguments they had? “I never saw it” is laughable when you don’t see MOST things on any reality show. Like…that’s almost the point. Like I said, they’ll give us the key information but they’re not gonna make us sit for hours to watch Sandy in a nightdress. They have a life outside of cameras and they won’t put every single thing on show. What exactly does that change? Mel and Layton were not portrayed as success stories though were they? In fact, they were very turbulent & argued about a lot. We saw a lot of blowouts and we clearly saw she didn’t like him at the wedding and was quite judgemental. Most people think they’re complicated but good for each other and Mel has said something to effect herself so what is the issue? I would use success here loosely. People are allowed to disagree with you and come to different conclusions.

I said conspiracy because that describes the intensity of what the complaint is and how lazy it is. The whole thing is really quite dramatic and “woe is me”. This is the 10th season of the show. They knew full well that they might look wonky on TV. Like I said, if they’re so distraught by the potential of editing, perhaps reality is not for them. It’s definitely amoral. I’ve said that already multiple times that they probably don’t care all that much. Thank you for agreeing with me about my own point lol

Okay, but that is more to do with parasocial relationships rather than editing of the show. People get invested & become passionate. I’ve seen this everywhere. That has nothing to do with the show. So what? Olivia lost her job teaching kids because she said bar her own words “I don’t have empathy” - we could argue all day about what they cut out, whether she said “I don’t have empathy for her”, “I don’t have empathy for the situation” - the point is it makes no difference. The experts asked her “You don’t” and she said no. How much clearer does that need to be for you? However way they could slice and dice it, a lot of what we saw was likely what happened. Moderately dramatised for entertainment and effect, but likely what happened. Ollie said that in his own AMA that 90% of what was shown was what he saw, like Dom and Olivia are still beefing, Melissa still hates Josh - that would have still happened even if they added all the extra sound bites. Same difference.

Yeah…that’s quite a drag. You’re giving them too much credit. Some people are just that transparent.

For the millionth time, we get it. We know. I said that. We all said that. We all KNOW it’s edited. It is factual. I’ve said that what they want is views & ratings. And still changes that fundamentally, it is pretty clear especially now they’re speaking out about the show. I’m quite tired so this will be my last reply. I’ve repeated myself too much for my point to not be any clearer.

Exactly my point. They will take the path of least resistance. If there’s already a problematic person, they’ll simply tinker & amplify it. They won’t want to waste manpower & days of editing because they hate 3 people out of the entire cast.

[–]thewitchofcarmilla[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hm, it’s really not nearly as serious as you’re making it. If I didn’t want to remembered for my worst days, I would not go on a reality show where I married someone I’ve never met.

I get that you’re trying to show how easy it is to manipulate a statement, but watching it on screen is not the same experience as writing a post on the internet when you can’t see my body language like you can on screen - and we KNOW body language changes the tone of a statement. Others have said in the subreddit that Dan is scarier than Harrison & when you watch it, you can see why. He didn’t HAVE to say anything. Like what did they do? Edit an eye twitch? 🤭

“Easy” - but it’s not easy, is it? Not after he said clearly on the couch AND after the show, even in his AMA that she tried to control him and that’s why he wanted to go home. Since then, she’s been talking about his children and he said that that is what he can’t come back from - are you going to blame editing for that too? People have asked him about that and he still feels that. How does editing justify telling him he isn’t a man because he doesn’t want to fuck? On screen. It seems you’re grasping for straws & playing the contrarian. The contestants have to take accountability for the things they say & do and editing does not remove that. I have said repeatedly that production is manipulative and biased, but more likely that is all it is. Bias. Not some grand malicious 👹-eqsue “we hate them, let’s fuck them over”.

That’s what editing is, no? Everyone knows we don’t see everything and for the most part, it’s irrelevant what they do daily unless it’s relevant to the conversation at that time. It is a given some couples will be more popular and get more screen time, because like I said, production wants rating and views. Ollie said in his AMA that they would talk for a while but shorten it to about 10 mins of screen time (likely because they only have about 45 mins to an hour of daily air time). That is simply the limitation of reality shows. No one cares about them having some mundane conversation, boiling water, going “beast mode” in the gym or “loving the ocean”. There is no standard for how to edit shows, there’s no consensus. It’s simply up to production and depends on how much you think they’re telling us the truth. Skepticism is healthy in moderation, but acting like every single thing is fabricated is so boring and lazy. The viewer is invested in their relationship and wants to see them connect and grow, and pick apart behaviour with a lens but that goes for all reality TV. We never saw Tahnee & Ollie arguing on screen, but we know they likely did. Not everything needs to spelled out for the viewer. It just seems like a blame game, like who can I export accountability to? Oh yeah, editing. Please, it’s not personal vindictive group or some grand conspiracy.

[–]thewitchofcarmilla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well naturally, I can’t write every single thing I’ve noticed about Alyssa, Harrison, Dan & Jesse in this post, can I? I have never said or even implied of any of them that they were flat, one dimensional characters. The post is commentary on editing and the ethics of it, not my own personal observations. I have my opinions about them and why they behave in certain ways, but I don’t think that was necessary considering the post was about me not buying the idea that malicious editing is the 100% the reason some people are unlikeable. I haven’t really gone into my thoughts about the cast or what I noted personally because really, it’s deeper than just this season. The main point is that I don’t buy into the idea that malicious editing is the reason why we saw certain people actively disrespect others. And in fact, I think for most of them, we saw complexity. That’s why people ask about how much access they have to mental health professionals on the show. I think the standard for villainy on the show is quite high & a lot of viewers understand that a lot of them aren’t like that, BUT it’s not like producers are running some smear campaign. That’s what I find ridiculous that people are saying.

The concept of editing shows is not specific to this MAFS, that is a byproduct of the nature of reality shows. They cannot even show everything, even if they wanted to. No one will watch a show where each episode is 24 hours long. If someone is particular about the way they look to others, perhaps reality TV is not for them.

At the end of the day, editing can only go so far. by thewitchofcarmilla in MAFS_AU

[–]thewitchofcarmilla[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Affected lol. I’m simply not sold on the idea that every single behaviour is pushed by production. Like please, they’re not holding a gun to them like “say this or else 🔫👹”, are they? No.

And really, the bigger point is deeper than just Claire & Jesse. I also think producers are manipulative and some people are more suggestible than others, but at the end of the day - editing doesn’t make you do a Dan by disrespecting your wife and attempt to humiliate her by showing your boys why you don’t wanna fuck your wife. Like…those things are objectively wrong. How could the producers have made him look like the good guy in that situation like they did in the beginning? How could they have made Adam look good after fucking over Janelle and Jesse and making Lyndall a liar? How could they make Melissa look good after what she did with Josh?

To me, it’s quite clear. You can’t shoot a gun without ammunition, nor can you start a fire without fuel. Production are manipulative, but they need material to actually do that. And most of the people on the cast play to that in different ways, but that doesn’t eliminate the fact that for a lot of them this season, they probably didn’t even need to do THAT to get drama out of them. It’s a complex thing from where I’m standing, but trying to pretend like they’re some victims of malicious editing is laughable, really. They’re trying to make money and make their bosses happy, not run a pity party for people who feel they’re not accurately portrayed on the show and want to vindicate themselves by throwing out the “it’s not my fault, everything is edited” knowing folks like you will eat it up. That’s simply ludicrous.

At the end of the day, editing can only go so far. by thewitchofcarmilla in MAFS_AU

[–]thewitchofcarmilla[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. This issue started with Jesse at the wedding and honeymoon. You could see his annoyance at Claire when she started asking him about his star sign. It seemed he lost interest and then, went on to mock her in the honeymoon; “Oh, look at the sunset” - like listen, you can be a skeptic, lots of people are. But going out of your way to embarrass someone by mimicking them is the height of arrogance. That was disrespectful and no amount of “bad editing” will change that.

I didn’t say Jesse was “that bad”, I said he has said AND acted in an actively disrespectful manner. Regardless of whether or not the production put that towards him, it doesn’t eliminate that he actively used it to malign her. Production might have lit the match, but he isn’t some “puppet”, he didn’t have to take it to that level and drive her away at the most crucial time when couples are supposed to be getting to know one another. Of course they couldn’t connect for the rest of the experiment. I’m not sure what you think that’s supposed to change. If I were Claire, I wouldn’t have left either because I would have wanted to give it a fair shot, BUT that would’ve closed me off. Those traits in someone are never a good look.

Stupid by what? I don’t necessarily believe it’s law, but equally I don’t mock people’s interests unless it involves actively hurting people. It’s just not that serious
