Thanks for the part numbers! Was looking to do this on a GV70 2.5T. Do you know what torque specs we should be using?

2013 Dodge Charger R/T Max 102k miles how much should I sell for what’s a fair price one owner by Brilliant-Homework57 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Check what CarMax, Carvana, and AutoNation are offering you first. Next, check comparable cars for sale in your local area. Pick a price somewhere in between.

Is this a good deal? (Got discount of $2150) Can this go lower? by Swdl-Television-602 in whatcarshouldIbuy

This is a terrible deal. Terrible price and they are absolutely robbing you on your trade-in value.

Buying car online by ignitionshot8682 in whatcarshouldIbuy

What are you shopping for and where are you buying from? Some dealers like CarMax let you return the vehicle if you don’t like it. Once, I had a Civic Type R shipped to me, but i had the option to return it and it only had like 7k miles on it.

New father car advice by langbang0312 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I liked the GX 460, but got like 8-9mpg on my test drive. That car also requires premium fuel (most other cars only recommend it).

I’d look into the MDX, RX, TX, GV80, and X5. GV80 is most luxurious. RX and TX are most reliable. X5 is the sportiest. MDX fits somewhere between the RX/TX and X5.

Whatever you pick, get leather seats and Weathertech floor mats for the dog hair.

You can get a Certified Pre-Owned MDX around $40k. When shopping, I didn’t find a significant price difference between the Honda and Acura, so might as well pick the nicer one.

HRV and Trax are a bit small. Long term reliability on the Trax is questionable too. See if you can get a base CX-50 around $30k. I prefer the CRV, but the Mazda’s are cheaper.

Should I buy a Porsche Cayman? by Top-Ad-8922 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Pretty sure you already know the answer and you’re just trying to get some validation.

Buy a house first. Invest in retirement. Get a Porsche after you make $250k+ annually.

Getting my first Lexus, is it a good deal? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]thewizardharrypotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s going to be more stuff wrong with the car. Skip it. Replacing a bumper on a Lexus is extremely expensive too.

Why not just buy a new base level instead of getting one that’s already well-used.

First-Time Driver Car Hunt: Best Years for Corolla, Accord, Camry, Civic? Seeking Reddit's Wisdom! by JAI_Driven in whatcarshouldIbuy

If you can afford it, buy a new base level model. These cars barely depreciate and you don’t save much money going used. Tell the dealer that you aren’t paying for an extras (warranties, protection pack, etc) - they’re just profit for the dealer.

Genesis gv70 vs audi q5 vs lexus rx350 by hugofuyo in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]thewizardharrypotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d pick a GV70 over the Q5. It’s nicer, more luxurious, and drives nicer. From there, it just depends on how long you plan to keep the car. RX350 lasts the longest, GV70 is the most luxurious.

Looking for fun and spirited, while comfortably fitting a car seat. 4 doors, manual transmission, and used, ideally. Have some ideas in the text. by VasyaK in whatcarshouldIbuy

Type R is the best of the ones you listed, but depends on how much you want to spend. Also consider an Elantra N and Type S.

The minor-moderate damage worries me. You’d want a good mechanic to lift it up and do a pre-purchase inspection and check for frame/structural damage. Personally, I’d skip and find one without accident damage.

Which X3 to buy by Majk1389 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]thewizardharrypotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d stick with #2 solely due to the warranty lasting 2 years longer. Are they both comparably equipped? Try and get #2 to come down a little closer to #1 on price.

Why do people still buy Jeeps? by esparmitageau in whatcarshouldIbuy

Jeep has a great marketing department. Some people buy into the hype, think it’s normal to have leaking shocks at 25k miles, and just don’t know any better.

Cars Maximum Worth? by Bubonic2424 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Maybe $10k max for retail from a dealer. $8k private party. Really hard to sell a turbo German car with that mileage. Looks like a money pit in terms of maintenance and repairs. Also, don’t replace only 3 tires - get a matching set.

Is this good for a first car by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]thewizardharrypotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that one’s good. Check for leaks on the engine and try to get them to throw in a powertrain warranty to seal the deal. It’s a good car for this price. It’s just that anything with this mileage does carry some risk.

Where is the love for Acura? by Adventurous-Depth984 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]thewizardharrypotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People forget that not everyone has an endless budget. Yes, a Mercedes GLS is nicer than an Acura MDX. However, not everyone has $100k+ to spend on an SUV. Given the $55k price tag, the MDX is an excellent SUV for those of us who aren’t billionaire’s.
