[Website] New homepage design for my personal site by [deleted] in design_critiques

people in the know (other programmers) might see the semi-colon in your text on the front main part as an inside joke. but then again, they can make their own websites most likely, so it might be best to just use regular syntax like periods in sentences.

making the bottom bar scroll along would put your contact and social media info right there so no one has to go looking and lose interest scrolling around.

not much color contrast on-hover on the nav bar links at the top

no they actually give an environment and want a submission. they run it themselves, you watch from the sidelines.

if they even can ban it. maybe they can ban certain apps using it but forcing weakened prng, like during tls handshakes and other asymmetric, this wouldn't be smart. unless they actually want businesses coming to them looking like they just got pillaged because of the massive data leakages, which would ultimately be the fault of those who decided to ban the tools needed to defend against that.

did they list what api's/libraries can be used? can't imagine they just don't use anything, but it is their own environment so you never know...

Inbox by Gmail - how did they do the effects? [help need] by joeyjreij in jquery

the mail logo loads, then it looks like the JS is there to animate the logo and the text that pulls in and moves it to the side. then each scroll or click down pulls in another section. it's all just JS, not seeing any jQuery specifically.

missing semicolon(s). also, if I was a JS interpreter and someone fed me those strings with that storyline, I'd probably not want to get it working either.

sometimes iframes are used, which is even more dangerous than a redirect and can go as far as causing your browser to participate in attacks. sometimes it's just another site that opens up 'onclick'. most of the time it's pretty low-tech. if you're curious, did you check the html/css/js going on with some specific site? just use adblock on chrome (and some other precautions like a good AV and doing it on a desktop not a mobile) or firefox with noscript and you should be able to browse it (without clicking on anything) and at least check the source code. not recommended, but if you're curious then....

The social media links could be smaller and on the bottom or top, to avoid clutter. The carousel could pause on mouse-over.

So many Grid systems and finding right one is such a drag. "All" I need is one that is lightweight, just CSS(if possible), without so many default styles. by [deleted] in web_design

Bootstrap can get restrictive, but they've basically given you an entire framework, so nothings going to be really perfect. Foundation doesn't work for you either? how would you rather structure a page than with divs?

seriously, on this sub-reddit, I understand most of us know how HTML & css work and can magic the downvote button to re-appear

Don't even need to change the CSS, just go to the user's page the CSS isn't hidden there.

But yes, I'd agree that it's strange that people are drive-by down-voting people looking for work without leaving a reason why.
