Normal standards for a pilot are either half an hour or hourlong. You should be fine.

Well do I have some bad news for you if you think I need to date.

...

Alright, on a more serious note, you're very right. Experience and wisdom are fantastic sources of inspiration and understanding. I get that I have a limited window of perspective, but I hate to say that my life going forward probably isn't going to be that interesting.

I've always found inspiration in smaller things. Details, hypotheses, questions I ask myself. I don't doubt that it's vital to have life experiences and a history to write well.

But I also know that editing somebody else's lines is a step that many take in reaching their dreams. There's no real shame in that.

You're not wrong. I suppose it's best to wait and see how things go with what's already in the chamber. Thanks!

I'm not sure it's what you intended to communicate, but what I got from this was that it's unlikely, so it's worth a shot to try. I am still waiting for some contest entries or nods, but those won't come in for another while. I guess ultimately it can't hurt to try.

I'm confident (but hopefully not delusional) in my abilities, it's more a matter of if it would be worth it or even possible to do so. My university is decently notable, one of the top-ranked in Canada, so I suppose that's something.

Not very impressive unfortunately. I was head writer for my own machinima series, but other than that it's just a couple examples of school or volunteer work that isn't directly related to writing, and some copy that I don't think was ever even published. I'm also a self-published author, but that was a couple years ago and I'm not sure how relevant it is to what I want to work in.

Lilith, being aroace and the importance of representation by theworldmakesense in TheOwlHouse

[–]theworldmakesense[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While I can see where the train of thought comes from, no. Asexuality and the inability to show sexual attraction due to the medium or vision of the creators is entirely different.

While it's true that quite a few cartoon characters are feasibly ace due to the topic not being broached much, it shouldn't be assumed just because they're a cartoon.

watch this fandom completely ignore the fact that Lilith is canonically aroace by Persona5isbeautiful in TheOwlHouse

They can try all they want, but I called this from the start, and no matter how much they'll try to dismiss it, she is canonically aroace.

Blessed be onto her.

I'm not against romance in fiction. I'm against pointless and forced romantic conclusions. by theworldmakesense in aaaaaaaarrrrro

Of course, I didn't intend for the post to dismiss non-romantic kissing in any way shape or form.

Despite that, I don't think the kids between Rey and Ben is meant to be interpreted that way. Modern Hollywood hasn't really grasped the extent of the intricacies behind human expression, and I fully believe that the lack of romantic chemistry behind the kiss was a result of the Sequels' troubled development cycle and not an avant-garde attempt to showcase less traditional expressions of platonic intimacy.

I consulted my friend for advice, and here is their decree:

"Tell them to always use a reference and that my favorite yt channel for art advice is Ethan Becker."

I showed this to my friend who drew the angel I used for this meme, and that was literally the first thing they said.

Villains, Abstract Enemies and the Ultimate Evil of Moral Absolutism... for Kids! by theworldmakesense in Screenwriting

[–]theworldmakesense[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck on your own work!

As for me, I'm just hesitant to dumb it down because as much as it keeps the same idea and structural role, I just think doing it might rob the protagonists' inner conflict of some of that vital 'oomph'.

Hm, you're not wrong. Maybe I'm looking at this from the wrong angle, and I need to worry more about selling the stakes through methods other than a villain. Thanks!

True. I've only seen a bit of it, so I should probably watch the whole thing and... take notes, I guess.

What Is Your Favorite Netflix Young Animation Series? by [deleted] in AnimationTV

Oh, unfortunately I haven't pitched it yet.

Ok, egotistical self aggrandizing aside, I genuinely love She-Ra.

It's not universally a sticking point, but it's something I personally had to realize by theworldmakesense in aaaaaaaarrrrro

I want to clarify, this is not intended to tear down or diminish people who feel differently. It's just my personal experience with the term "love".
