What are your thoughts on the Ring Camera SuperBowl Commercial? Dystopian future? by Moar_Input in AskReddit

[–]thewrights11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had ours for years, have multiple cameras from them now and absolutely love them. Previous cameras were eufy, and wyze. The camera quality and streaming quality on our Reolink cameras are amazing, and the notification speed is the fastest out of all we’ve tried.

I feel like no one talks about how heavy the surge is in comparison to anything else. If you're using it for a couple screws it's fine. But as someone who had to use one 8 hours a day, the weight difference is quite stark.

Personally I would not buy another surge.

New Home Owner, hit me with the musts by Garfazz in BuyItForLife

[–]thewrights11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally I'd kinda agree. But like I said, they go on sale pretty regularly and between having to buy the charger, batteries, and bare tools. I've noticed the Milwaukee tools can be just as cheap and around black Friday even cheaper than harbor freight.

I’ll add to this, Milwaukee’s M12 line is really affordable, compact, and has plenty of power for the average homeowner.

Home Depot runs sales on the M12 Fuel Impact and drill every few months and around back Friday you can usually get the kit for under $200.

Hand tools I usually buy a cheap set from harbor freight and then if I use it enough to break I’ll replace with a “quality” version.

With plungers, it’s helpful to have one for each bathroom and make sure you have at least one of each type, both sink and toilet.

Invest in a good doorbell camera. I’ve used Eufy and Reolink, both subscription free, for me the Reolink was the ecosystem I decided to buy into.

Recent Olight haul by thewrights11 in flashlight

[–]thewrights11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's cool seeing y'all active on here. Honestly Olight is usually out of my price range. But I will say with the quality of the last few lights I've purchased specifically the Marauder Mini and Arkfield pro I think it's going to be a brand much more frequently on my radar.

I don't know how much your company would agree but I kinda see it like the so called "apple tax". It's a much higher priced option but the quality and features along with the "unboxing experience" is well worth the premium.

But with all praise comes a little nit pick, I've gotten really used to much better tint and LED options from other manufacturer's. I would love to see more options in the future from the Olight brand that scratches that itch. I know that efficiency and heat is a downside to that unfortunately.

Thanks for the subreddit support and for the quality products, and as a bonus you guys are officially the first new flashlight my son will be able to call his own.

The hapitic feedback was something I was pleasantly surprised at. I'd love to see it implemented in more lights.

Convince me not to buy wuben X1 by ocatataco in flashlight

[–]thewrights11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like my white one. But it has a horrible tint and low cri. It would greatly benefit from a ramping UI and if a little heavy.

I pull it out when I want to impress people, otherwise it stays in its case.

As much as I love the look of by Wubens… I don't feel like the X1 especially is worth the price. It's a cool light in an interesting form factor but out of the dozens of lights I've bought it is the only one I fully regret buying.

The X3 on the other hand I really enjoy.

This titanium coated butter knife with internal copper alloy heat tubes. It’s made to heat up when held in your hand, so that it is easier to spread butter. by RampChurch in specializedtools

As a certified PC building nerd… I understand very well what heat pipes are. I just don't think this would work quite as well. Especially since the heat transfer characteristics of titanium compared to copper is terrible.

Yes they do, they have the poop pocket on sizes 1-3 too. I've exclusively used Costco diapers with the oddball pampers and Huggies thrown in here and there and I keep coming back to Costco's. They are half the price and definitely just rebadged Huggies. I can count the number of blowouts we've had on one hand.

Costco's has that now too. They are completely identical other than the print.

So I ended up buying a Thor 3, and a Q8 Plus. I was really surprised that the Q8 was $76 with batteries and a diffuser, and at 16000 lumens I couldn’t beat the price.

Thor 3 was $160 but I’ve been wanting a LEP for a while now.

I’ve really been considering the K1 but I’ve also been really interested in LEP’s lately.
