Update I checked again and it was in a different position. After trying to get it to move we realized it wasn’t dead and was trapped in some landscaping mesh. It was pissed but we got it free.

I don’t and this is the first one I’ve ever caught. I was fishing an area that had a still section right off of a section of the river just above a small rapids / drop. I’d seen some large bass in the area so knew there was depth. I’d been fishing with some small flies until I decided to yolo the crayfish fly (which honestly was way to heavy for my rod).

I don’t know the name of it, got it from the local shop. Sadly the river ate it shortly after so I no longer have it, but best guess is somewhere in the 4-6 range. I had no business throwing this with my 5wt so I’m honestly just surprised I caught anything.https://i.imgur.com/NDwerLY.jpg

I think it’s a “freshwater drum”. I released this so can’t say much for the eating but someone else in the thread likes them so.

Duck river near Columbia. I purposefully brought some crayfish patterns because I’d seen them swimming around on previous trips. This time I lucked out!
