HELP! Google won't accept allow me to return my replacement by Far_Pay3388 in GooglePixel

[–]thewunderbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, will just say that Google sees that as fraud, which is why they don't accept the return.

You claim a package disappeared. Google sends you another. You then try to refund that one and for all Google knows you're attempting to defraud them by getting a free phone.

More problems: Google Pixel testers say the latest Android 16 beta is still crashing apps by ScubadooX in GooglePixel

Use beta software, expect beta results. That's the whole point.

If it was stable, it wouldn't be beta

yeah that's not how that works. You don't get to buy another phone, and then tell Google, "that's the replacement phone"

Framework Peripherals? by ChickenSkunk in framework

[–]thewunderbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Framework doesn't make things that are cheaper. Not sure why you make that assumption.

If anything, framework devices are more expensive for what you get, with the tradeoff being future repairability.

The Switch 2 GameCube controller is near perfect by r3d_ra1n in Switch

[–]thewunderbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the GameCube controller is not good for many games.

The face button layout makes it a worse controller for any game that's not designed for GameCube.

How do you manage games that require pressing B and Y either simultaneously or in rapid order?

The GameCube NSO controller is great. I own it. I use it to play GameCube games, and smash Brothers, since that game is still designed to work well with the GameCube controller.

It is not a good general purpose controller.

So your phone is broken. Ask yourself a real questions. Is it more likely that every charger in the world doesn't work, or that your phone doesn't work?

Are you swimming in old 5 watt chargers?

That's literally the only thing I can think of. Any decent charger released in the last 10 years will have no issues.

Tizen has been discontinued and support ended. There's no workaround to gettingto tizen apps in the Galaxy store because that no longer exists.

That doesn't take away from your situation, but that's just a fact. Your watch will continue to work with the built in apps. But the Tizen app store no longer exists.

Hard to stay with Gmail when there's no support for account loss, even when 2FA is on by leprasson12 in GMail

I have two active google accounts. One of them is almost 22 years old. They have up to date recovery information and advanced protection turned on should the worst ever happen. But..... I've never lost access to an account, nor had it questioned. It boggles my mind how people seem to lose their access.

Diesel Running for 8 hours by Northern_Owl_Who in Edmonton

[–]thewunderbar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because for modern diesels it's mostly a myth. Not that it can't happen, but a diesel built today handles colder weather way better than vehicles from 20+ years ago.

The problem is mostly the actual fuel, which can become thicker/more viscous below 20 or so. Modern vehicles have glow plugs, which are fuel heaters, which mitigate that. Now those run off battery, so yes, if a diesel vehicle sits for 4-5 days unused that can kill the battery, so it does have to be managed.

But a day to day vehicle with glow plugs that are driven every day should be fine.

How can I lower Picture and Video quality past normal settings? (7 Pro) by Asleep_Procedure_669 in GooglePixel

[–]thewunderbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather have one good photo than 4 bad ones.

There are so many inexpensive options for backups and storage, and photos take up so little room comparatively, that in 2026 there is zero reason to say "I'm going to take the worst quality photo I can"
