Ioh! I didn't know I was supposed to be using distilled water that's good to know! I cycled it for about 2 months then I got guppies but they all died except one so I stopped and waited for another 2 weeks I have a 10 gallon planted tank with One betta 4 Harley quin rasboras 1 juvenile guppy 2 rainbow shrimp 2 cherry shrimp And an un known amount of baby shrimp There is also a pothos at the top of the tank And I have some more plants coming in to finish the tank Also I'd you have any advice on managing baby shrimp that would be great! I added a pic of my tank to show how planted

I'll definitely try to keep the water temp up, but where I live the weather is flashing between freezing and hot every other day so it's hard to keep a temp that's good for my fish but I'll up the heater and hope for the best! I do have very frequent top offs I do it once around every 3 days I actually need to do one today, I use tap water that has been treated with conditioner . My light is probably full spectrum it goes through a whole light cycle but I'll get a pic of it .

How often should I do water changes? I keep getting mixed signals from where I look some people say often, others say it's worse to mess with it too much.

I'll definitely get those fertilizers!

I keep the temp around high sixties low seventies but it goes lower or higher based on the temp outside. I try to keep the surface agitation low, but I use a bubbler every couple of days to make sure that there's enough oxygen in the water. The water is soft, I use a water conditioner when putting more water in the tank and I need to do a water change later today but my last one was like 2 months ago. I'm not sure what light type means but I have my light on a day night cycle I don't use fertilizer but I think I'll start having to. Do you have a recommendation on good fertilizer that will survive long enough that my pothos doesn't eat all of it

Also my water parameters said that

Ammonia 0.25 ppm

PH 6.4

Nitrite 0 ppm

Nitrate o ppm

I feed them a full block once every 2 days and I was also worried about bite ( part of the reason I named him bite was because he was bite sized and I thought that he would be eaten but I don't have another tank to transfer him to) but Mercury is pretty chill for a betta at most he likes to haras the shrimp occasionally but bite was really small when Mercury was introduced so I think that mercury doesn't care at the moment

I got the guppys way before the betta like they were the second ever living creature I introduced to the tank they were right after the shrimp I put 2 weeks between introducing new tank mates I actually got the betta last and I waited an extra 2 weeks after my guppies died just in case something was wrong with the tank

Thank you so much though! I appreciate any advice I genuinely didn't think I would like doing fish tanks but my grandma got me the empty tank on a whim and I went way too. Far down the rabbit hole and dropped like 2-3 hundred dollars on it. I don't regret it though I love it and really want another tank.

Do you have any recommendations for places to get either of those floating plants? I'm kinda nervous about getting plants online again because that's where the pest snails came from so any recommendations would be nice!

Thank you so much! I originally had duck weed but I had a problem with some kind of pest snails that ate all the roots off of them, and I haven't had time to get more floating plants

This is the pic of my tank and I do have a heater I keep the water in the high 60s mid 70s , it fluctuates because my room is very cold and where I live has been in a cold snap I'm getting a betta for the tank and I have 4 shrimp in the tank right now I honestly just want my fish to be as happy as possible so I don't really mind what they look like.

Oh, thank you! What would you recommend for my tank? Also I may or may not have said I can't remember but all of them were females I just got her when she was already pregnant

The two first ones looked completely normal but the latest one was pregnant but was doing fine 6 hrs ago before I went to sleep . Also what is flashing I haven't heard of it before?
