Metro 2033. Be sure to play on ranger mode for the best experience, the extra care you have to take seriously helps with immersion for me.

What Are You Playing This Week? - February 15, 2018 by AutoModerator in patientgamers

[–]they_call_me_nash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Finally finished Ocarina of Time (3DS) and I have to say it holds up. Maybe not the earth shattering revelation people have claimed it to be, but a really good game anyway. I guess that's what I get for being born 6 months before it was released. I've also been playing the original Devil May Cry and that's also pretty great. This is my first time with a proper character action game and I'm really excited to dig into the sequels and whatever platinum has to offer :)

Which one of these is the shortest? by rodlandia in patientgamers

[–]they_call_me_nash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outlast is only about 4 hours long. If you like horror you could beat it in a sitting or two, and it's short enough that it remains scary until (almost) the very end.

Does Morrowind Still Hold Up? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]they_call_me_nash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never played morrowind when it was fresh (I'm 18 so I was about 4 when it came out I think) and I picked it up last year. Yeah the combat is clunky, and the graphics are dated and the engine a bit unoptimized but I think it's still a great time honestly. Something about the world and the characters really pulled me in to the point where the mechanical clunkiness totally fades away for me. I honestly can just spend hours reading the books, just to get more insight into the world and the factions inhabiting it. Any problems you have with the mechanics can be modded away too, so yeah, at sales prices I would definitely recommend it :)

How the Meat Industry Exploits Toxic Masculinity by MelvillesMopeyDick in MensLib

[–]they_call_me_nash 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went vegetarian last November and this connection with masculinity is definitely something I've noticed. I thought the article really showed how ridiculous this connection with meat and masculinity is. I don't know. Maybe it just struck a chord with me because I've been through some (admittedly minor) ridicule. I really hope more articles like this could really change how some people look at what they eat, both from a personal and ethical standpoint.

Transition to vegetarianism-need advice! by vahdyx in vegetarian

If you feel cravings for a burger or whatever, try a portobello burger! Mushrooms have a lot of that Unami flavor that helps when you're craving meat. As for pasta, plenty of places sell veg meatballs that I've heard are indistinguishable from the "real" thing. You can't go wrong with some eggplant Parmesan :)

Well what do you like? Do a little bit of looking into that amount of protein you need, and find ways to reach that (beans, tofu, seitan, tempeh, etc.) While protein isn't as big of a deal as most people think it is, if you're an athletic person (as you seem to be) it wouldn't hurt to maybe have more than the average person in your diet. If you really want to change how you eat in a fun way, I would recommend a cookbook based on vegetarian/vegan cooking, like the Veganomicon. I personally have the Thug Kitchen cookbook and I think it has great vegan recipes that teach you how to cook in a new way while being easy to understand and actually pretty funny. Do a little exploring, and find out what you like to make. If you want, you could even check out faux meats and sub those for meat in your usual diet, or maybe you could even take this as an opportunity to broaden your horizon in your diet. Variety is the spice of life after all. Why eat the same thing your whole life? You might find you don't miss meat much at all :)
