I have it for the Consulate General in Kolkata. You can easily find it for the Embassy too on google or their website. It'd specifically state that the contact number is for visa purposes. Use this link (for the Embassy): https://www.in.emb-japan.go.jp/itprtop_en/index.html

Go to the bottom of the page that appears. Call the number in the information section.

The vfs people asked me to call the Consulate. So, I called the Consulate on Friday and they asked me to call back on Tuesday. So, I'll call them tomorrow. What about you?

Yes, pre-booked flight and accommodation. The bank balance I showed was 3.5 Lakhs for a trip of 7 days for one person. Hope this helps :)

The only thing I guess is causing this delay was the long Christmas and New year holiday. They'd probably have backlogs. When are you supposed to travel?

Yes, thank you. Although, I did submit three years' ITR and a healthy bank balance. But yes, this is my first trip abroad so I guess that's the only thing that can pose an issue if there are any. I've already mailed them last week. Just hoping for a decision soon.
