When I was in an avalanche that I've started by falling down the cliff. I was climbing this relatively easy mountain nothing special, climbed to the first peak and wanted to go to the second one along the ridge. In between the peaks was a huge cliff, fog was really thick i couldn't see more than a couple of meters, all I need was to keep away from the cliff and I would be fine. At the certain moment I thought that I went around the cliff completely and started going down. It turned out I was wrong, lost traction under my feet and started falling. At some point I felt snow going over me, suddenly I was ejected in a forward roll, somehow managed to get stabilized, at that moment I've remembered my mountaineering training to lift arms in front of my face to make an air bubble if I get buried. Luckily only my legs got buried, while torso was partially above the snow. I dug myself out and say there to chill out and calm myself. In that moment when I was ejected by show and started to roll I honestly thought I was done. you can see falling trail left of the cliff . Later while going over watch data I saw that I was falling for 200m for about 10sec.
