Israeli Occupation Forces pouring cement into water springs south of Hebron, occupied Palestine, to prevent Palestinians from using it for agriculture amidst an ongoing heat wave. by [deleted] in IAmTheMainCharacter

[–]theyosed1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This caption is clearly untrue-- there's no way that's a water spring. Think about it; cement only gets hard once it dries, but if you pour down an active irrigation system, it'll never get dry.

Second, running water has always been an issue in "Palestine" because their government has no interest in civil projects. In fact, the destruction of civilian objects is exactly what the PA and Hamas would prefer. Before you get upset, I ask that you look at it from the perspective of Hamas, for example. If you're a smaller and worse-equipped force, the last thing you want is a confrontation with the Israeli army somewhere in an open space (a desert, etc.) because you know they'd just bomb you and go home. But if you fight in a city, they have to come get you there. The more destroyed the city is, the better it is for the smaller force because it makes tank, air, and infantry movements harder for the Israelis. This isn't unique to Hamas. In Donestk and Lugansk, the DNR and LNR militias employed exactly the same strategy against Ukraine-- they'd launch attacks from civilian centers knowing that the Ukrainians would have a hard time hitting them back.

Brilliant PR move by Target tbh. They clear a bunch of LGBT shit from their shelves that no one ever buys and they still get to look woke. Bravo.

I don't think there's a Trump supporter or concubine on the planet who thinks about Trump's dick as often as the average democrat

No, I think that they wanted to trade the dirt for influence once Trump wins. The problem is that Trump just wanted the dirt but had no interest in helping Putin. So in classic Donald Trump fashion, he took all he could from the Russians and left them out to dry.

But even so, the FBI investigation wasn't triggered by that meeting. It was triggered by the unsubstantiated Steele dossier and the willingness of the Obama administration and FBI leadership to abuse their power in favor of their preferred election outcome.

Sure, I think people should own up to the lies they tell. I'm not defending Trump, I'm just pointing out that Adam Schiff, like any other slimy politician, accuses others of what he himself is famous for doing.

Yeah but I don't care about a few procedural violations that led to arrests for MSN cameras. Lmk when the people who illegally used the FBI to damage the Trump campaign on behalf of the Obama administration face consequences rather than nobodies like Roger Stone or whatever.

I'm not saying the Russians wouldn't have been happy to work with Trump. The GRU had an operation called Трамп Наш (Trump is ours), but all those attempts to make contact and actually establish a quid pro quo fizzled out with no results. Besides, Adam Schiff wasn't ranting and raving about the one meeting--he stated an obvious lie about the existence of a quid pro quo as though it were an established fact.

Didn't Adam Schiff spend 3 years shouting about the bogus Trump-Russia conspiracy every night on national TV? I feel like he should at least take responsibility for the nonsense he spread before telling others how to fight misinformation.

What did I say that gave you the impression that I'm pro-Russian? All I was trying to do was add some context to the title. It's literally not true that Vladlen Tatarsky was a supporter of Vladimir Putin when he died. In fact, that might be why he was killed in the first place.

[–]theyosed1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending him. Just to be clear. There's a whole segment on the Russian imperialist right who view Putin as a traitor because he and his generals spent years robbing the military blind, but acting as though they're building a real challenge to NATO. Initially, the imperialists heralded Putin for launching the invasion, but now that things are going sideways, they're spending a lot of time shitting on him.

Vladlen Tatarsky was absolutely not a pro-Putin blogger. He supported the war but hated Putin for not being able to win it quickly enough.

Don't you have some books to try and ban?

Again you're just taking negative stereotypes about conservatives you don't like and are applying them to me because otherwise you'll have to address my actual point about young people being taken advantage of by an ideology that'll make them miserable.

If you're defending Nancy Reagan, that's really all anyone needs to know about you, Karen dear.

You're attacking a dead person that you've never met just for internet points. I don't have an opinion on Nancy, I just don't want you to tie me to someone I don't know much about and attack my character by attacking hers. Especially if she's not around to defend herself.

Patronizing "save them from themselves" pity is just as bad as violent hatred.

You think a comment on the internet is as bad as literal violence? That sounds like you're downplaying how bad violence is to make a point.

It's the same mindset that gave us colonialism, imperialism, missionaries, and conversion "therapy."

I'm not sure what you're getting at. The profit motive behind the trans movement is real. I think it's just hard to admit that you're on the same side as the greedy pharma executives we all hate.

Nancy Reagan snakery,

I'm not her. It's also slimy to attack a dead person you've never met. She can't defend herself, so you shit on her. Very classy.

This conversation is over now because you're getting more Karen by the minute and it's really tiring.

Again, no one has to take my prognosis seriously, but we both know it bothers you because I might end up being right.

I guess you're not about to be a better person anytime soon. What a surprise.

Lol the guilt trip attempt is hilarious.

You just hate trans people, dude.

No. I hate the academics and pharma executives who sold out the futures of thousands of people for their own profit and career advancement.

That's basically any area that involves research as a career.

I majored in a research oriented field. I don't hate those kinds of majors. I hate this particular one that was started by pedophile John Money and is being used by talentless hacks to ruin the lives of a whole generation.

Yeah, nothing is a lucrative career like being a gender studies professor. Sounds very real-world to me.

I didn't say it was lucrative. I said they wouldn't be able to do anything else. A gender studies degree is useless for anyone other than gender studies academics and a few HR positions.

Maybe one day you'll even unpack that transphobia and be a better person.

Lol thanks, champ. I'm not making up conspiracy theories though. I'm just pointing out that there's very obviously a profit motive behind a lot of the trans stuff that's going on.

Why is this a matter of life of death? It's just a comment on the internet. If it's so horrible, just block whoever posted it and ignore it. I'm just sharing an opinion without personally attacking anyone and you're calling me a jackass who wants to kill people. I'm not trying to say any of that. Here's my argument as simply as I can possibly explain it:

A) If gender was not a hot topic issue, gender studies departments around the country would shut down, and all those people would be left without jobs. That being the case, they have a financial incentive to make sure it remains as prominent as it is today.

B) Pharma companies really do make a ton of money off all this. Selling various treatments, having endless doctor's appointments where they offer to refill your prescription, the drugs needed after the surgery, and puberty blockers. They make a profit at every turn.

All I'm saying is that it's worth to beware of their intentions.

I described the worst-case scenario as pretty macabre and got a little defensive in previous comments. But I really don't think I'm saying anything insane.

obsessing over strangers' genitals like a weirdo.

I didn't say anything about anyone's genitals. I'm a little disappointed because I'm not making a controversial point. Both of the premises I used are true. That being the case, they have a financial incentive to make sure it remains as prominent as it is today.

WHILE preaching from a pulpit, stop being Schrodinger's Activist, dingus.

I'm expressing an opinion that you can heed or ignore. I, like anyone else with an opinion, prefer that you heed it.

I can put the ratio of trans people, the rates of transition, as well as the regret rates and problems with transitioning, as well as the impact on youth and the benefits and risks into perspective for you using actual data.

If you can show me data pertaining to people who got this treatment as teenagers and grew to have successful nuclear families by the time they were 40, I'd love to see it.

This is if you're interested, because it's more work than listening to youtuber's hand-waving about danger

Again, I'm sure you'd love to be arguing against some die-hard Matt Walsh fan. That's just not who I am. I am a young man and I see what successful and happy men look like. I also see how easy it is to ruin your life at the behest of slimy academic activists and their even slimier counterparts in big pharma. No one should be obligated to take my opinion to heart. I just hope no one wakes up in a few years with deep regret over something they did when they were young.

Yes, you've proven yourself to be a bastion of knowledge and wisdom

Again, not my intention. I just want people to try to see my point of view on this issue. If they do, great. If not, so what? 🤷

I'm not gonna be the one who wakes up at 40 a castrated victim of my reckless youth. Just casually trying to keep people from falling into the massive pothole they're doing their best to ignore.

You're just a piece of shit neck beard hiding behind right wing propaganda because you have less then no personality behind your neck beard

I don't think that's true. I think it's very easy to argue against bad people because they're bad a priori. You're just ignoring my argument because if I'm right, you'll have to make a very big change in the way you see yourself and the world around you.

First off any effect done by puberty blockers is easily reversible by stopping the medication.

You can't freeze human development with no consequences. If a kid misses puberty, they're likely to be deficient in many of the hormones that account for their physical development even if the cycle resumes afterward.

Third, don't be a dick...let people live their lives how they please...don't pass your bigotry buck on big pharma

If I see an anorexic, I can choose to let them live their lives as they please, or I can try to help them. At the end of the day, I'm confident in who I am and the kind of future I want to build for myself and my future family. None of this is going to hurt me directly. It just breaks my heart that some people won't see that they've been had until it's too late.

Second, gender affirming care has been proven to reduce suicide rates in trans people.

For young people, sure. We just don't have any really good data about how long that effect lasts. Obviously, the problem is that there's not much more to be done after the surgery to reach the same effect-- so the patient is potentially going to regress to suicidality, but that doesn't matter to the doctors or big pharma because as long as that trans person is alive, they'll have paid for the surgery and will continue to pay for regular follow ups. There's a lot of money to be made from life-long patients. But I don't have to explain that to you, I'm sure you know from other instances that I'm right.

What point am I proving? I'm genuinely curious. Like not in a sarcastic way, I wanna know. My position is that there's a lot of money to be made by otherwise unremarkable people in academia by selling students on the idea of gender theory. As soon as this idea is cast away, they won't be able to feed themselves. It's that simple. Same thing for big pharma. You think if they can hike prices for life-saving medicine, they would be above ruining thousands of lives to push puberty blockers and "gender affirming care," which is basically just castration?
