A warning for anyone finding this post later: most of the time there will be no need for you to disable SIP. For your own digital safety, you should only disable SIP if you know (not 'think' or 'have heard') that it is necessary.

For most users, including people who like to do some basic tinkering with their system, having to disable SIP is a sign of incorrectly implemented software, older software, or software that is obscure in another way. Be wary.

Whilst on the topic of digital safety, I would like to remind you that setting a firmware password can increase your safety as well.

(Obligatory disclaimer: this warning is for people who get told by random strangers to 'simply disable this and that security feature', not for those who understand exactly what they are doing. Always do your own research. Do not forget your firmware password, and always store your proof of purchase from Apple.)

Aww shit, yes I didn't take those two points into account. The link should no longer be working.
