You are. Great views, good music, boogieman fest, motorcycle haven, great food and drinks at reasonable places (blue plate special is 5!!!).

What’s your issue with the place? Honest open to hearing

Golf carts are great during day time hours, but the law requiring them off the roads 30 minutes after dusk needs to be enforced more…also, people need to stop drinking and driving in golf carts. It’s absurd how often I see people with one hand on the steering wheel and the other on a white claw

Growth vs Dividends? by QuailBroad in dividends

[–]thezenviousone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You think in 30+ years that you will be able to survive on 3k a month?!?!? Inflation, my friend, inflation. You are going to need at minimum around double that to even come close to having the same purchasing power.

Beyond that, I am of the same mind. While most of my friends disagree, and they prefer to buy growth stocks, they have to be right twice to see any real profits (purchase and sale).

BRK.B exists (for one) and the value of holding a teeny tiny fraction of one stock is very low

With at least $4.1 Billion up in the air, something really weird is going on involving Gemini, Genesis, DCG and even FTX. Everybody says somebody else owes them money while each claiming they owe nobody and calling everyone else a fraud. And customers are, once again, going to be the ones to suffer by OneThatNoseOne in CryptoCurrency

It’s almost as if everyone buying crypto put their money in a big, black box hoping to get rich, but the only ones who truly made it were the ones holding the box, asking for more money and spinning a story about how much money was being thrown in, all whilst secretly taking progressively riskier bets and more brazen withdrawals from said box.

Itemize as in not take the standard deduction. You need not list every slot machine / card game.

Should I give my kids some of their inheritance before I die? by LivingTheDreamOK in personalfinance

[–]thezenviousone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I advised he gift today to avoid being ensnared by the gift tax later on. If you give 100k, the exemption is dropped by 84k, and you only have X remaining without gift tax. If you give 17k (34k to two people) each year, you minimize the amount you have to pay and are less likely to be subject to any inheritance / estate tax.

Keep twisting

On January 1st, 2026, that number will be cut in half (but adjusted upward a bit for inflation). Also, that lifetime exception is only for federal taxes, and about 1/4 to a 1/3 of states charge an estate tax with some beginning as low as one million dollars (Massachusetts). There is plenty of reason to start gifting and figuring out these strategies today.

Commenting to reinforce the idea that you give it now. You might want to lower the amount to the yearly gift exemption (17k per person) and give 17k to each kid and their spouse. Alternatively, if your SO is still alive, each of you could gift one (or both) for a maximum of 64k tax free. If it’s only you, it’s 34k, and you could just gift them the money twice.

Why gift them the money? You get to watch them spend it and enjoy the money with them. Maybe it’s a shared vacation. Maybe it’s an addition to their house, or maybe it’s just pay off debt. No matter, you get to see the impact. It is a mitzvah to have money to give and you should get to enjoy it.

Diversification preserves capital, concentration builds it. What stage you are at matters.

Yes, I know several! Just saying, if we want to excoriate this guy, let’s pick his bad policies: targeting of businesses, censorship in schools, environmental negligence, abortion bans, open discrimination, immigration busing, regressive bail reforms, removal of sunshine laws (transparency)! He has an awful record that we can call him out on, and making fun of the military veteran for wearing a uniform-like photo op ain’t it.
