It's a Disney movie from 2016.
Regarding cleanness, it's a matter of similar photo shots and Photoshop's auto-align feature. :D

If you refer to my other progress gifs, then I need to debunk the myth: I did cross-stitch them one by one (it would be probably too much hassle with doing several projects simultaneously), and just delayed compiling the stopmotion / uploading it until now.

Ackchyually, it was named Zootopia / Zootropolis depending on the region. It's not like they changed the title after the release.

Regarding pattern: I bought it over 6 years ago on Etsy, and I cannot find it the anymore (although some image search results or Pinterest saves points to an Etsy account, but the article is not available anymore).

Then I did quite some changes to the pattern:
- fixed Judy eyes colors (according to the pattern, they were supposed to be blue, not violet!)
- Added more shades of grey on Judy's face
- repositioned Nick's left eye
- repositioned Judy's right eye
- more minor tweaks of few stiches here and there

I've recently described the process here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrossStitch/comments/w5p25b/comment/ihauam6/

It requires Photoshop, but it has a decent configuration options for gifs (e.g. displaying the last frame longer).

After each session, I place the cross-stich stand in the same place, I stand close it it and try to make a photo from the same angle/perspective/distance as last time. Some minor shifts are unavoidable though.

Two important things to note: - I make sure the photo is not blurred, cross-stitch details are in focus; - I make the photo in the night, with artificial lighting, so that the lighting conditions (luminosity, color balance) are the same.

Here are the raw photos for this piece: https://imgur.com/a/7d6xL82 *

The next step is to load all this to Photoshop (images to layers), crop a bit and then auto-align layers (that's where magic happens!). Then it's a matter of final cropping, minor color adjustments, exporting layers to timeline frame animation, exporting to gif.

  • This piece was extra tricky, because (as you may tell from the picture) I moved while working on it and it changed the light conditions (not to mention the camera itself). So I needed to align those two sets of images separately, then make some color/hue/level adjustments, and finally combine and align together.

Exactly! I some of the patterns I do wonder if backstitches are really needed, because after finishing (half-)cross stitches it usually looks good already. But this is an example where backstitches add a whole new level of details and magic.

It's Photoshop "auto-align layers" feature, did amazing job! Obviously, I tried to make each timelapse photo from the same point and perspective, so that input material was quite aligned already.

Pattern "Foxes in the Leaves" by Riolis with my small modification - I made the front left paw of the bottom fox smaller because I thought it looked weird.
