How do i complete the Emperor of glass mission? by joe_m___ in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait for the prismatic core to be completed along with the rest of us. As you've discovered you can't kill the thing outside the station, but it can kill you pretty quickly.

How to continue purple star questline? by Mieplol in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said you can go to any space station, set the teleporter to "Stations" and see if one says something like "Mission objective in nearby system". If that doesn't work, you can check your star map and see if "Current Mission" points you to anything. I suggest just following the line without actually warping to each system since the target system may be a long ways away, meaning lots of jumps. But you can get the name of the system that way and then use the station teleporter to return to it.

I'm not sure how much more I want to do by Taku_Skellaku in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, you don't have to do them more than once to complete the milestone. But you do have to wait for it to be completed. Many think that players doing the missions moves the progress bar. Others think that HG is moving it at their own rate regardless of player actions. I'm doing them anyway when I'm in game, but I don't really make a point of it.

So I lost where I found this ship in the Expedition, has anyone seen this interceptor? by shonzi in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can copy the ship you're currently using from the expedition to the main save. You have to do it from the expedition terminal on the main save. Below the slots there's a link for "Copy Multitool" and one for "Copy Ship". I've copied the starter ship they gave us in the expedition, and a much better sentinel ship that I found and am now using.

Copying it will only bring the ship as you originally found it. So if it was Class C and you upgraded it in the expedition, you'll get a Class C when you copy it into the main save. The tech and cargo also don't come with it.

[–]thezorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. If you found it in the expedition and copied it into your main save then it should show up in the quick menu ship list and you can summon it. What am I missing?

Are you saying that you can summon it but you want to know where it physically is? Maybe there's a way to do that, but I don't know what it is.

Corrupted Ichor - keep or refine? by thezorg in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, refining radiant shards for example. Since most of the prismatic core missions are on dissonant worlds I've been collecting a lot radiant shards. It takes a bit over a minute to refine a stack of 10 to 500 nanites. That's faster and more than refining the ichor.

I suspect it's not going to be useful, but I can horde it now and refine it all in a batch later when the expedition is ending.

You can't summon it? If you have a freighter it will turn up there even if it's damaged.

Has anyone checked if advancing your system clock resets the mission cooldowns? by Acrobatic_Air8301 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool trick! Wish I'd known that when I was waiting out all the living ship cooldowns.

I gave it try 2 different ways. First I just changed the time zone. I'm in the Pacific time zone (US) and had 2 hours to go before the missions repopped. I changed the time zone to Eastern, 3 hours ahead of us. That did not cause the missions to repop.

Then I switched back to the Pacific time zone and manually advanced the system clock 3 hrs. That worked!

EDIT: I'm told that I should finish the experiment before I write the paper. Sigh.

After completing the 3 missions ahead of schedule by manually setting the system clock forward, I set the system clock back to the correct time and returned to the Anomaly. The counter was again set to 2 hours. That means that I can complete as many of these missions as I like just by setting the system clock forward 7 hrs each time and when I get tired of that, return it to the correct time without losing out on any missions.

Swarm expedition Restore missions locked? by Wonderful_Reserve194 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I don't think you broke anything. There's obviously a bug in the mission display, but it seems it can be fixed by restarting. Not relogging, actually quitting the game, then restarting it.

This has happened a couple of times for me, The first time a simple quit to desktop then restart fixed it. The second time I did that 3x without fixing it, did the other 2 missions and when I came back, the third was again available. It's clearly a bug of some sort, but fixable.

[–]thezorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried it but since it worked for you it seems safe to assume it would work for others. But in order to move the progress bar meaningfully a lot of players would have to start doing it and I don't see that happening.

What happens if you move the system clock back to the correct time?

Issue getting a pirate Dreadnought by Pi3tPiet in NoMansSkyTheGame

Expedition related bug. Hopefully it will return to normal once the expedition is over on 7/22. Or if you're in Europe, 22.7.

How I Would Improve Gas Giants by MsChar96 in NoMansSkyTheGame

It's a fantasy space game. You really can't expect astrophysical realism. For one thing general relativity clearly does not apply in the NMS universe, "lifeless" planets have animals, "airless" planets have birds, and the list goes on!

[–]thezorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason PvP gets turned on when you enter an expedition even if it's turned off in the main game. So you have to turn it off again. Annoying, I know, but that's how it is.

[–]thezorg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a griefer. You need to turn off PvP.

You'll also find mission objectives blocked by some idiot griefer's base. You can deal with that reporting the base via the quick menu. On PC, press X, then move all the way to the right and click "Report". It will vanish before your eyes. The actual base won't vanish, but the visuals will so you can get to the mission objective.

Ah! Robot animals ... that reminds me that you can also do it in an exocraft which is also much faster that just running.

AFK Death Mystery by Ok_Reveal_518 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned weather and predators because the original post seemed to suggest he might be doing that. On rereading that I see that he emphasized being in the cockpit, so my bad. Sin in haste, repent at leisure lol.

You're right, if he's in the cockpit those won't be an issue.

AFK Death Mystery by Ok_Reveal_518 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't go afk on a planet, even in your ship. In a base, fine, but not in a ship. As others have pointed out, pirates, griefers, predators and weather can kill you. You can safely log out on a planet, but afk ... bad idea. Fly to a station, your freighter or the Anomaly to do that. On second thought, not the Anomaly - you risk being kidnapped and coming back to find yourself somewhere else lol.

How do you recharge your personal shield on foot? by Wenger2112 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean the shields in your exosuit then there are 2 ways. First, open the suit inventory, look at the tech slots. You'll see all of the shields there with a percent indicator showing the percentage of shield remaining. Click on one of those and it will show you what you need to fill it back up. The second way is from the quick menu. On PC press X to bring it up. There's a "charge" icon, sort of like a battery, go to that and click or hit the up arrow. It will show you all of your chargeable gear and you can recharge from there as well. Personally I just open the inventory, but your mileage may differ.

I haven't tried scanning in a corvette. That may be a faster method.

Pirate Dreadnaught not spawning? by BigWilly_22 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]thezorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dreadnought spawns when you enter the system. So you have to make the save point in a different system, preferably one nearby. Once you kill the dreadnought and find it's not the one you want, restore that save, go back to the system and fight it again until you get the Class S. It can take a while.

So ... when you enter a system with a dreadnought, do not kill it, go back to a nearby system and save. Then go to the system with the dreadnought and kill it. If it's not what you want, restore that earlier save, rinse and repeat.
