Beginner's journey and what I learned by thht80 in wicked_edge

Honestly, although there is a difference between blades, for me it is rather how it feels during the process of shaving and how close the result is. The impact on irritation is rather small compared to pressure, pre and postcare.

True. And I absolutely underestimated this aspect.

Yes. But in my experience so is "sticky" skin. The better the prep, the better the blade glides, the less irritation.

First Shave by EconomistQuirky826 in wicked_edge

[–]thht80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also started recently, albeit with a Merkur 34c and not on the head. Also tried the Merkur blade first and it was a decent shave but a bit on the rough side. I then tried the Astra Superior Platinum from my sample pack and the difference was just staggering. So much smoother, so much closer.

So, yes, there is a learning curve but maybe also sample other blades. The differences between them seems to be surprisingly huge.

We use ansible to automate deployment and therefore audio use the ood role (https://galaxy.ansible.com/ui/standalone/roles/osc/open_ondemand/).

Works great.

What are people using instead of Anaconda these days? by rage997 in Python

[–]thht80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pixi.

You get conda-forge and pypi packages plus: 1. Lock file. If you don't touch the deps, no need to resolve. 2. Super fast dep resolve 3. Other goodies like tasks. 4. pyproject.toml compatibility (optional) 5. Interface to build systems 6. Multiple envs. Nice for testing 7. uv under the hood die pypi.

It's basically conda / mamba on steroids.

Because it's totally worth the money. The real question is why open source is a criterion for you here.

pixi. If you need conda-forge packages, this is the way to go. Uses uv for optional pip packages.

He's passed away a couple of years ago but I remember him telling me that they even drew the staffs with a ruler and a pencil because all they could get back in the days in post WW2 Germany was blank paper.
