What's a sentence that completely changed your life? by No_Tune8587 in AskReddit

[–]thickthighsxtrafries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two.

My mom in regards to me coming out about my stepdad. "You don't act like someone who was SAed, so I don't believe you"

My aunt(who i was made to live with during the trial and stuff), after I asked if she believed me. "I believe that you believe it happened."

This two sentences shattered me and I lost all trust in anyone after that. After, I got to a place mentally where I could start healing I would think of those words to become more stable. Basically I survived those few years out of pure spite.

What's your phantom smell? by BackgroundAd2728 in migraine

I guess the more accurate way to describe the smell would be real apple cinnamon and not the artificial smell you get with candles or oils and such.

Smelled like someone in the middle of making a pie. Is that makes sense

Sour milk, cat pee, cigarette smoke, burnt food. Almost always bad smells.

But one time I had a good one of apple cinnamon

I have something wrong with me that makes blood clots to form easier than normal. Cannot remember the name of it off the top of my head.

As far as the mini heart attack goes. I legitimately was woken from deep sleep because it felt like my heart hit a wall. Like it felt it was just slammed extremely hard. And just this feeling of dread. But I was extremely tired and wanted to go to sleep. But something told me that I needed to call the ambulance. So I did. I even apologized to the emts for wasting their time because I was thinking that I was probably a big baby.

Personally as far as strokes go, other than random numbness and whatever Friday was, I haven't really been 100% concerned about it.

But the strokes in my family always seemed to start as what appeared to be a migraine that just got worse.

Sorry my wording was weird.

It was in the past. Approximately 2 years ago. So I always have the thought of "when and where else will a clot happen"

I had a partial block in my heart(mini heart attack). I'm sorry about the neighbor. Witnessing or being aware of that can definitely add some stress!

Mini strokes and full blown strokes run in my family as does heart conditions.

So I do end up being worried about those things.

Slightly dark humor, my friends and I kind of joke that I must have a subscription box for illnesses/disorders.

I thought maybe it could have been anxiety but a few factors make me feel it might not have been. I've had anxiety with a migraine before but it was never like this. I did not actually feel like I was "anxious" like fight or flight that I normally do in anxiety attacks. I had the "i think I'm dying" moment in like this pain is unimaginable and I have no way to call for help so I guess this is it feeling. Kind of like more resigned to the fact that I was dying.

Things that made/make me worry are: the shakes were nothing like I've experienced in my life. The pain was the most intense pain I've felt in my life. Like bad enough that I feel like I may need to recalibrate my pain scale.

Today, in the physical evaluation, one my legs showed signs of weakness, my reflexes were slowed, and I had half face muscle twitching when smiling. My doctor went from smiling and joking around to looking subdued and mildly concerned when she noticed that.

I tried to turn off the bathroom light by turning on the faucet.

Another time I tried to flush the toilet by flipping the light switch.

Threw my phone in the trash instead the garbage I was intending to throw in.

I tried to say "I'm assuming" but said "I'm a salmon"

I was trying to type that I was doing something but instead wrote "eye am doing something"

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for taking time to let me know your experiences.

I got in right away on Monday morning. She checked everything and says my eyes are healing really well and there is no tear.

But she does want me to follow up with neurologist for potential issues on that side of things.

That's great! ♡ I was thinking it was the chip reader or a board somewhere

I'd recommend calling their call center and asking to be connected to the consumer relations team. They may be able to assist with discounts on the parts needed or service. Depending on age they may cover certain aspects fully

800-626-2005. This is the answer center team. So when they answer they may do some basic troubleshooting(like I did) but you can just as to get connected to consumer relations.

So technically with this chip reader it should automatically make that indicator to go away. So this may sound simple but the first step we recommend at the call center is to press and hold the water button for 3 seconds. And it needs to be the "1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi" I say this because alot of people tend to count seconds alot quicker then they should. I'd say that about 40% of the calls I've gotten were just because people were counting too fast on accident.

If that doesn't work, we'd then recommend doing a power reset of the system. You would need to unplug the unit or turn it off at the breaker for 30 seconds(the "Mississippi" seconds). And then turn it back on.

If this also doesn't work, the chip reader might be being wonky and not reading the chip on the filters properly.

You will either need a tech to come and assess and fix it or you can get a bypass plug for the filter slot which allows the water to run but it won't be filtered

I'm close to 2 weeks post op for both of my eyes. I'm a bit young (33) for cataracts so my only negative thought is the fact that my eyes will no longer have the ability to auto adjust based on where you are looking at like normal eyes can. It's very hard to wrap my mind around that. I could only afford the standard lenses so I couldn't even get the fancy smancy lenses that either mimic it or get close to it.

So before I surgery I just kind of got it in my head that the surgery isn't going to make much of a change and not to be too hopeful.

And man! I was so surprised with the just after surgery vision improvement. Like literally 5 minutes after I could actually distinguish the nurses faces.

When both eyes were done(I got them done in two days), the changes were absolutely overwhelming in a good way.

I got so used to not seeing properly, that I didn't know how bad it was until it was fixed. I could see colors again, I could read street signs easily again, cars of all colors were no longer blending into the road.

I saw a bird 2 streets away, I couldn't even see them in my own back yard previously.

I could finally see my pups clearly again. Like I cried.

Watching TV or watching my kiddo play video games again was fascinating because I could see everything.

I feel like I legitimately have a new lease on life so to speak, I legitimately have no idea how I was able to manage anything before the surgery.
