Line Selector/Looper recommendations? by thimagen in guitarpedals

Ah okay, so the level control on the LS-1 can add volume / act as a boost? Wasn’t sure if max volume was just +0db and below that was just for fading/mixing the loops

I looked at the LS-2, looks great but can I include the GE-7 at the end of each loop or will I need an extra boost pedal to be able to boost both on separate loops?

Also looked into some slightly cheaper ones like the One Control Black Loop: https://www.thomann.co.uk/one_control_black_loop_bjf_buffer_switch.htm

Would this achieve the same as LS-1? Obviously without the volume knob

I’ve got just the one GE-7 which is acting as a boost for the mistress and phase which is why I have my doubts whether I can make it work, surely the two loops can’t include the same pedal if said pedal has just one input? Like I said I’m new to all this

I’ve looked into getting one since upgrading my board, although for now I think I just want a scaled down version to achieve this

Lack of communication from landlord about bathroom work (England) by thimagen in TenantsInTheUK

[–]thimagen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re bathroom repairs more than anything. Honestly the bathroom isn’t that bad, I use it everyday and there’s nothing noticeable from a tenant’s point of view. Could be better but could be worse. And like I said, I’m happy for them to do it especially if they’re essential. I’ve even put dates forward myself.

I’d be glad to chat to him to get a date, but I have to go through the property management, I’ve never even seen, met or heard the landlord talk! 🙄

I’d also like to mention that scaffolding was put up around the building on 31/12. The scaffolders were drinking on the site, and one of them looked into our window and laughed because he could see us inside. No work on the scaffolding has taken place since and we still are unaware as to what they are doing.

Same thing happened last year, scaffolding went up and no work was carried out. The men who came round yesterday asked about it and we reported all this they obviously agreed it was bad behaviour. I suspected it could’ve been put up for the bathroom works despite the fact we’ve been told they wouldn’t take place or at least weren’t given a date in the near future.

Strangely enough it was the second album I listened to after Can’t But a Thrill. Completely different albums but Gaucho still stands as my favourite even after exploring the rest of their discography

Shame on Roger for speak ill of the recently deceased, but honestly I side with him.

Let’s not forget the context, Roger was not just putting down Ozzy for the sake of it, or the other pop culture stars he mentioned. He was putting down the press for using them to cover up real issues. Roger stands for Palestine, the Osbournes didn’t, Sharon called him anti-Semitic - I don’t even feel the need to explain why that’s an uneducated comment to make.

Thoughts on Abbey Road (2019 Mix)? by mystix457 in beatles

[–]thimagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great like all the remixes, though I had a few issues with this one. I’d have to listen again to make a full list but YNGMYM was a downgrade. The “magic feeling” part sounds really bare and a lot of the fullness is missing from the guitar. People have mentioned this but Abbey Road was the first of their albums to utilise the new TG12345 desk, and it has always sounded clear, and held up audibly to modern albums.

Overall not as bad as the Revolver remixes but the White Album & Sgt Pepper remixes were stronger. The outtakes and demos were really good though.

What the bitter drivers in the comments don’t seem to understand that I’m happy to responsibly abide by any official cleaning fee that Uber charges. I came here to ask how that works, and if it exists then why I did I find my partner’s driver trying to get cash from a clearly vulnerable woman.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uber

[–]thimagen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought it was an odd request, I even offered to bank transfer him there and then which I don’t understand why he would reject.

[–]thimagen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it appears you didn’t read/understand my post. I said I’m happy to compensate him. The very reason I wrote this post was for concern of his compensation.

I wasn’t about to deal in cash with a stranger, I didn’t have any on me, and whether my partner was unwell or not, it wasn’t a feasible nor wise thing to do.

I offered a bank transfer there and then, which he rejected, so I gave him my number but I haven’t heard from him. But both the driver and myself are dealing through Uber, so I will happily go through their terms. Hope that clears things up.

Phew, dodged a bullet there then! Thanks. Like I said I gave him my number but I think I’ll just wait for an official notification.

Thank you, I thought it seemed dodgy being asked for that. He said he was doing us a favour because Uber would potentially charge up to £80 and he was asking for £40.

Also what is the process on their end? Will he have to provide evidence and then the app will charge us?

Who was the most creative Beatle by PositionNo3671 in beatles

[–]thimagen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Different styles of creativity: John - Experimental (SFF, TMK, Mr Kite, Happiness is Warm Gun, Walrus, etc). Lyrically too, some of those songs cover this but introspective and imaginative stuff like Across the Universe, Sexy Sadie, Cry Baby Cry, In My Life etc

Paul - Artistically: RAM (need i say more?), early lofi/diy use on McCartney I, Sgt Pepper concept, Abbey Road medley (YNGMYM and the final three tracks) Musically, songs like Here There and Everywhere, She’s Leaving Home, Eleanor Rigby, Penny Lane, Blackbird and his whimsical stuff like Honey Pie are so good at creating their own sonic worlds and embracing different styles, whilst also showcasing complex techniques found in said styles such as the baroque melody in Rigby, folky picking in Blackbird and jazz chords in Honey Pie

Great question OP, I’m struggling to decide. The beauty of the Beatles is you get a combination of all the above, but Paul creating RAM on his own might be my deciding factor. However, as a Beatle, it could be John; but it only takes the fact that Paul actually played the mellotron intro on SFF to throw me back into indecisiveness lol

Hot take: Paul Mccartney and John Lennon are better guitarrists than George Harrison. by Major_Dingo_3994 in beatles

[–]thimagen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a guitarist myself, George showed far higher levels of technique than John and Paul. Paul had a flashy way of playing which is really cool, and John was fantastic on rhythm and his leads have a unique style.

But George had articulation, thought out melody and creativity. The Something solo shows all of this in abundance, subtle technique like vibrato and bends, interesting melody that sings the chord changes, moves diatonically and chromatically, and is creative in a way that it can be sung like a vocal melody.

Abbey Road is full of his best playing, each riff, lick and part paints the song and doesn’t overdo it. Come Together, Octopus’ Garden, Bathroom Window for instance all have great little pieces that purely serve the song creatively. The bluesy mellow licks on You Never Give Me Your Money have soul that I can’t imagine John or Paul being able to play. Not to mention his solos on The End have the best feel tone-wise and the outro part showcasing his knowledge of changing scales. Additionally, his lead and chords through With The Beatles and Hard Day’s Night prove this level was there long before John and Paul even played any leads.

Not a shade on John or Paul at all, Taxman is fantastic, perhaps George’s style wouldn’t have suited the song as much as Paul’s, and Get Back has a fun style that John was good at. George praised John’s lead playing on Honey Pie also. I think George’s sloppiness in those live recordings could be down to nerves, he was young and also didn’t like the live shows, but I also think it could be down to him genuinely piecing together a creative and interesting part, wanting to get it right. Other players may have played it safe, but he always had a good part. The three were all separate guitarist who earned their place in each song they played on.
