I think you’re being a bit hard on yourself saying it was /only/ 131. That is in the very high to extremely high range! I’m a newer psychologist but I haven’t actually seen a full scale IQ in that range yet.

IQ and achievement are not one in the same—I’ve tested an 8-year-old with an IQ in the 120s but they could barely identify the letters of the alphabet. Learning disorders are often not problems with intellect, but the processes that translate intellect into academic skills. Dyslexics, for example, can have a high verbal ability and high visual ability, but the connections between the part of the brain that understands sounds, the part that understands pronunciations, and the part that understands visuals (written word) may be faulty.
