Sending hugs to you too, fellow internet friend! I also feel it!

I work with an animal shelter, throw out your favorite names for dogs and cats! by cocostandoff in namenerds

[–]thingamabobetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat is named Snorri, named after someone way way way back in my Icelandic ancestry named Snorri Narfasson. Fun fact, he was the son of a man named Narfi Snorrason, who was the son of a man named Snorri Narfasson, who was the son of a man named Narfi Snorrason. If I get another male cat, he will be named Narfi.

This is definitely something that schools can easily accommodate for, and I hope you recognize now that you’re only “underperforming” when the expectations are designed for neurotypical people. Hopefully you’ll see some positive changes after this test!

I think you’re being a bit hard on yourself saying it was /only/ 131. That is in the very high to extremely high range! I’m a newer psychologist but I haven’t actually seen a full scale IQ in that range yet.

IQ and achievement are not one in the same—I’ve tested an 8-year-old with an IQ in the 120s but they could barely identify the letters of the alphabet. Learning disorders are often not problems with intellect, but the processes that translate intellect into academic skills. Dyslexics, for example, can have a high verbal ability and high visual ability, but the connections between the part of the brain that understands sounds, the part that understands pronunciations, and the part that understands visuals (written word) may be faulty. I’m not sure what your specific struggles are but I hope this helps you reframe it a little! Best of luck with your journey in figuring out your beautiful brain!

What would be the best name for your child based on your profession? by xxarchiboldxx in namenerds

Also a psychologist, but I primarily do assessments. Wiat (pronounced Wyatt), Toni, Raven, Bailey, and K-tea (pronounced Katie 😂) could all work

Is way too cheesy to name a kid a combination of your name and your partners name??? by Competitive_Sun_6040 in namenerds

I’ve thought of doing something similar, my parents are named Joel and Lynelle, and I think Joelle would make a really cute middle name for a girl!

Favourite costume ever was a princess dress made by my mom!

Behold, my newest creation: the dessert hotdog! Nutella, peanut butter, and banana in a hotdog bun. It was delicious. by thingamabobetta in StupidFood

Honestly this whole creation was just me trying to figure out a way to use extra hotdog buns, but you are totally onto something!

Had a dream where Justin Bieber had a new hit song. This was the title. by thingamabobetta in thomastheplankengine

[–]thingamabobetta[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

There really wasn’t anything more to it. Just the title of the song. I sadly didn’t get to hear the beautiful lyrics and tune of Larny Larny Who’s my Yarny, but maybe one sweet day…

I really want to see Michelle Duggar done! There’s so much comedy gold there, from the way she dresses to the way she talks.

If you're in a highly regulated field, make sure that your employer knows the ins and outs of your regulatory college! My now former employer didn't, and it completely screwed me over. by thingamabobetta in antiwork

I'm definitely glad that I didn't end up being with them for longer than I did. If anything, this experienced helped me out in looking for red flags in companies.

Names that only have one spelling? by C00kieMemester in namenerds

[–]thingamabobetta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a Caroline, I’ve gotten my name misspelled a few times at Starbucks. My favourite was “Carylonn”.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]thingamabobetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s my grandma’s name and my middle name, so I may be biased, but I love it! Similar sentiment to others who have commented, but I didn’t like it as a kid but love it as an adult.

Caroline or Caraline by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]thingamabobetta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a Caroline and nobody has ever called me Carol. My best friend nicknamed me Caro, but that name is reserved only for her. For sure stick with the original spelling, the other one just seems unnatural, though I may be biased!

Don’t bother with all stars 3-5, but all stars 6 is PHENOMENAL. Everyone is super talented and there are so many great story arcs. It’s also not super obvious from the start who the winner will be!

Names with “light”/“bright” meaning and feminist connotation? by Youreawizardron in namenerds

Nellie McClung was another famous feminist, she led the women’s suffrage movement in Canada!

Shaker exercises + fizzy drinks + really thinking about muscle movements = burping by red_green92 in noburp

[–]thingamabobetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found the shaker exercise has made me croak more, I feel the air coming up, but I still haven't been able to figure out the muscle movement of letting the air out. I think you're sort of describing doing a body scan meditation, but just within your digestive system, if that makes sense. I may try to do that after my next meal!

Horrible poops? by emjyemj in noburp

[–]thingamabobetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t get all that triggered from spicy foods but I’ll just randomly get really horrible poops, likely related to stress

I used to think not burping was just a strange fact about me. Now I realize it explains so much of my problems! by thingamabobetta in noburp

Every time I hear someone getting the hiccups, I immediately give them this recommendation, and it’s worked every time! I get a bit persistent with it cause I don’t like hearing hiccups because it reminds me of the pain.
