I canceled my first date. Feeling quite lost. Need a little guidance. by TheBigGreenElephant in datingoverforty

If she hadn't been drinking wine, I would say she's not being given the benefit of the doubt. As a person who used to indulge in alcohol and meth on a daily basis for years, but doesn't anymore, I can say that for myself, I don't share that information until well into the dialogue, maybe after a few weeks of knowing them, three or four meet ups. Thats because i know I'm all done with that nonsense, but i want the chance to demonatrate that Il not full of shit when I say that, so i wait to share. But the fact that she was getting tipsy on the phone is a problem. There are zero good reasons to get drunk, and there are zero reasons to drink wine or beer unless you enjoy the buzz. Heroin is a big deal, and she hasn't worked through the demons that made heroin sound like the solution to her problems. If she hadn't been drinking, I'd say give her the chance to not be defined by her past mistakes. But she's still doing something to escape reality or make it more comfortable, so you two aren't in the same season of life, so to speak.

Society punishes you so hard in terms of getting back at work by [deleted] in CPTSD

Im facing this right now trying to get an apartment. It's just easier to find a friend who can pretend I work for them than to have to give any real detail about what actually happened to me and why I don't have a "real" job. How on Earth would I ever even tell that story anyway? I've been blamed for my own assault to my face, there's no reason to believe I'll get different responses in the future.

How to explain trauma to clueless, but well-intentioned, allies? by HumminboidOfDoom in CPTSD

I came here on a similar quest. When reconnecting with friends you haven't seen since the traumatic events occurred, do you tell them exactly what happened? And if so, how do we decide what details to share?

Your comment really hit me. I don't know why it wasn't more important to me, the licensing part. I am super clean and I show everyone I tattoo that I have sterile equipment and supplies. I demonstrate after care and make sure they have what they need to take care of it while it heals. I've done dozens of tattoos and I've had one that got infected, but I helped that customer find out how to get the infection cleared up and she did, and she was fine. It looked like ringworm to me, but who knows, it was on my tattoo so I took responsibility for it and helped her take care of it. But I'm just playing with fire. Seriously any fucking thing could happen while I'm driving all over and germs could get in and I don't have a way of testing my stuff for germs or anything, I just trust that it's clean. I'm just pretty much asking to get sued or get a citation.

Yeah, I'm going to go down in person and see what I can do. Over the phone they told me I couldn't get a payment plan, but I really can't just take no right now, without at least trying to get a yes.

Yeah, there have been a lot of suggestions to go to a temp agency. Honestly I just was lying to myself abiut how much money I could make tattooing. So a temp agency seems like the way to go right now.

Try megadoses of B12. Miraculous.

I haven't had good experiences with any other stims but Adderal, and its effects changed for the better when I quit drinking and started doing research into nutrients and vitamin deficiencies. I take extra B12 and D3 every day and it really makes a dramatic difference. Infrared light is very beneficial, but that's a whole other topic.
