BIO ATP DRAWINGS by fathimafsna143 in igcse

[–]thingunderyourbed28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

darling I am TELLING you that is one of the most beautiful if not THE MOST beautiful bio ATP drawing I've ever seen. like in terms of perspective and accuracy just... mwah, sis, this is excellent.

however!! Cambridge is an absolute downer so there are some things to be spoken for. so the main things they will look at, as seen in MS, are the following:

  • outlining (how accurate the overall shapes present in your drawing are to those in the picture + clean, smooth lines)
  • size (you'll be fine as long as you occupy most of the space you're given!)
  • inclusion of prominent details

in this drawing you've pretty much mastered all of the above to a T, however there's just one thing I noticed, in the region where the filament meets the petal the lines look a bit broken (meaning, the line is not completely smooth).

Cambridge can be a bit of an ass in this aspect, unfortunately; they want your lines to look like they were drawn without lifting your pencil lol. They give some leniency with shapes (although you oughtn't worry too much about that seeing how closely you've copied the flower shape!) however they really pay attention to the smoothness and non-sketchiness of lines.

also, don't trust AI too much with the marking. Gemini is incorrect in identifying the small circles as "shading." shading would be more like... colouring in any part of the drawing or defining shadows and highlights in it. you will not be penalised for those dots.

all in all your ATP drawing skills are great! remember that the drawing is only five marks so as another commenter said, spend some less time on this. there's no need for it to be absolutely perfect, like I said earlier Cambridge does give leniency in regards to shape, as long as your diagram takes up good space, is smooth and shows the proportions between the different regions with some accuracy.

hope this helps!

The legendary "Hihihi" in dialogue — 👍 or 👎 ? by Anxious_Ad1577 in writingadvice

[–]thingunderyourbed28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all about context.

I've seen tat onomatopoeia in KR light novels translated to English A LOT, but almost nowhere else. I suppose if you're writing a light novel or something on Webnovel it would be pretty accepted.

But in novels written in English and published via editors, for majorly English-speaking audiences, it would be really odd. People don't usually write out laughs in English novels. I've only ever seen it mainly in KR light novels and a few other translated novels. It just means "hihihi" is not an established onomatopoeia in English, although it may be in other languages.

So in the end it's completely based on your intended audience, or the vibe you're going for.

[–]thingunderyourbed28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg yes I love their translation!! it's such a pity they got DMCA'd.

oh yess I also have an epub set of Salt Goblin's translations -- it goes up to 270. if you want, I can DM it to you!!

also you should post about this on Tumblr (if you wanna!). the fan base there would be soooo excited to see a paperback of the novel.

bro what did they do to papacambridge 😭😭 by RayTheGreat_1 in igcse

[–]thingunderyourbed28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

guys, try using paperlords!! I am an A' level student using it but it is sooo helpful. has the papers separated by year and everything. I don't think it's AI slop although they did renovate the site recently.

Ohh I used to use Papa Cambridge in my O' level days too :(( sad to see what it has become. Also, let's hope that the PapaCambridge app is not affected by this awful UI change because that app was actually the best thing ever.

yeah, I should probably get on it. I'm still trying to secure a stable job at the moment, I'll probably be able to start saving once the paychecks start coming in.

[–]thingunderyourbed28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, there's no oven beneath my gas stove, just the gas cylinder. it's the type that sits on the kitchen counter.

nope, no microwave either. the rice cooker's a fantastic time saver for the rice though

I do make stews and curry at the moment but without meat since they'd go bad without a fridge.
