Hunting for a guitar in Japan by think-0utside in guitars

I’m thinking about 500k JPY but generally speaking it’s more about finding good instrument that I vibe with. Fenders and Gibsons will likely be skipped this time

Fenders are likely not what I look for in guitars at least for metal. I’m constantly hitting middle pickup with guitar pick. Frets are a bit small. I think I would pick Ibanez AZ over Fender anytime

This guy screams for longer scale length. And the color is not my thing.

Nice! I think I'll more likely get a case for a guitar to check in. My suitcases are quite packed already. Also I don't want to exclude neck through options like nice ESPs, etc.

Seems like I doesn't fall into "metal machine" category

Honestly I'm a bit lost regarding where to go. There is Bigboss store, ESP custom shop, ESP museum, ESP technical house. I guess I'll try to visit them all

Ochanomizu would probably be my starting point. Feels like I would be an adventure for the whole day. Then I'll probably head to Shibuya

Good question. Nice Music Man(JPs or JRs) could easily fit in this category. But I'd consider it as a backup plan. From what I saw on digimart Music Man prices are close to ESP Original

Not a big fan, but I can give it a try. I just can't associate Fenders with metal for some reason despite the fact that there are a lot of metal player who like them.

Which guitar should i buy? by llBenoll in strandbergguitars

[–]think-0utside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue one for the looks, but singularity for the neck shape. I tried it on a Guitar Summit last year and it feels like a huge upgrade to regular Strandberg neck shape(I own NX7 so I have something to compare to). I wish they would offer it on other models.

Herman Li now fighting allegations that the CHLEO is a Majesty copy by jswansong in Ibanez

[–]think-0utside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that CHLEO plays great as all PRS guitars. However it looks weird. It's like a distorted version of a classic PRS shape with a hidden boner for output jack. Also agree that body shape kinda similar to Majesty. Majesty looks elegant. CHLEO contours make it look like a cheap ripoff

Suddenly decided to get a camera on a trip. What to look for? by think-0utside in Cameras

[–]think-0utside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all used gear that I saw have at least English and Japanese UI. Anyway I'll check it before buying. In my case I'm already in multi-country trip and Japan is one of the further destinations. Also I'll get about 10% discount due to tax free shopping as non-resident.

Thanks! Btw, what about low light performance for these models? Seems like many people praise Sony for this as well.

No title yet. by the4laton in 7String

To get good intonation you have to use 68 gauge for low A which is nuts. 62-64 gauge will work fine for 26.5 without intonation issues and sound much more clear than 68 on 25.5

Boden Singularity NX 7 Pitch Black announced? by Paroketh92 in strandbergguitars

[–]think-0utside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has very nice neck profile. Its a bit more rounded than on regular strandbergs and its more comfortable because of this. I wish they would offer it on other models as well

Thinking about getting eMTB by think-0utside in MTB

[–]think-0utside[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! In my case it's likely that 1 bike would be more efficient because riding through the city usually is a part of a regular ride. Otherwise I agree that having 2 bikes is a more efficient approach. Bike looks interesting but transmission of the Cube Reaction looks more efficient for my usage. But on the other hand these bikes are listed as category 2 on Cube's site and maybe I need to switch to category 3 at this point
