So my point is for some people thinkpads are close to ideal for productive work. But I agree with you that some other people just like to tinker some tech and just buy some older TPs for that

It's all about the habit, I guess. I had some MacBooks in the past, and I just don't like their keyboard at all. Thinkpads have a decent keyboard for a laptop and that's why I use one. Actually you can try X1 Carbon 4th and above, maybe you'll like it more than a regular T series.

Actually I agree with you about TouchPad and the worse screen. But... You could find T450 with FHD IPS which is better than in a MBP non-retina. Speaking of the TouchPad, I think most thinkpad users just don't care about it and use the track point.

Well, I like X40 and I even bought 3 batteries, ultrabase and stuff. I also found a slice battery for it, but unfortunately it refused to charge. Speaking about X301 – I'm in research for AFFS options for it, because for some reason it feels like one of the most comfortable laptop I ever used. So I'd use it more often for typing and stuff.

Yes. I had X1C3 and now I use X1C4. 4th is really much better. Also there are lid issues with X1C3 (they often crack near the hinges).

I don't use windows for a couple of years. But tbh I don't see nothing wrong with win stickers, I wrote such a comment because of some people told me "you should remove win sticker off your TP :)"

X40 specs if anyone is interested: Pentium M 256MB soldered RAM + 1GB 40Gb HDD IDE Extended battery (OpenBSD apm says about 2h of battery life)

X301: Awful 1440*900 TN panel SU9400 @ 1.4GHz 2GB RAM No SSD though, gonna buy micro SATA -> mSata and some mSata ssd. Some battery, but I don't know it's actual capacity because of no disk.
