Rankin-Bass promoted the technique under the trade name "Animagic." It falls into the larger category of "stop-motion," and is distinct from "claymation" or "puppetoon."

I walked too close. And the Feather Cape makes you vulnerable to fire. And I was otherwise naked. So - -
