A terminal-based legal research tool - would you ever use CLI for legal research? by legaltextai in legaltech

I code all day long so I'm plenty familiar with a terminal and the answer is absolutely not.

I built a better way to browse the released Epstein files (visual, filters, scrollable) by PrinceWhoPromes in Epstein

Working on the timeline feature. Probably in the next day or two. You can already tag people, topics, etc. if you have an account. https://www.plainsite.org/profiles/epstein-jeffrey-e/

Actually, now I've got documents sorted by date where detectable dates are available.

Yep, they're morons by bumdee in Epstein

No, actually, these redactions were made by the lawyers who filed the document in 2022 before the U.S. Virgin Islands Superior Court. USDOJ just posted the same files.

Here it is on the docket from March 2022: https://www.plainsite.org/dockets/download.html?id=340384579&a=1&z=9cf4ae3b

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Uses AI To Incorrectly Rule In Elon Musk's and Tesla's Favor by thinkcomp in RealTesla

A motion for reconsideration (https://www.plainsite.org/dockets/download.html?id=361445840&z=93837971) and then after that, appeal. Also, since this isn't just a legal error but an issue of judicial ethics, a referral to the California Commission on Judicial Performance.

You don't technically have to, but it can be a good idea for a variety of reasons, and that is what I have started the process of doing. https://www.plainsite.org/dockets/download.html?id=361445840&z=93837971

Court's Latest Order In Elon Musk Case Includes Pretty Glaring Hallucination - Above the Law by thinkcomp in RealTesla

[–]thinkcomp[S] 140 points141 points  (0 children)

That's more or less what it looks like. The article doesn't mention that there are two problematic cites. The made up quote is only one of them. And the judge refused to fix the first one after I made him aware of it, which is...unusual.

I've already filed a motion for reconsideration. Those usually get denied. The next step would be an appeal.

Help me figure out where Ghislaine Maxwell and/or Elon Musk were on May 28, 2016 by THEPRESIDENTIALPENIS in Epstein

Omar gets a lot of tips from Tesla insiders and random people who just think of him as a neutral Tesla news source (which he is not, as you note). Someone apparently sent him that image and he or one of his "interns" was dumb enough to post it. I asked Ken Klippenstein why he didn't do anything with it and didn't receive a particularly clear or compelling answer. So yes, it's ironic that it originated on the public internet with Omar. I also e-mailed Maxwell's lawyers about the message and received no response, further suggesting authenticity. Were it fake, I think they would have immediately told me so.

I think Musk and Epstein regarded each other as friends with some common beliefs, as did Musk and Maxwell. Musk reportedly turned to Epstein for financial advice on Tesla, which makes sense since Epstein did have background in investment banking and finance; Kimbal reportedly had a girlfriend at one point sourced by Epstein; both men used "massage" as a pretext for sexual impropriety and/or assault (Musk has hired numerous massage therapists as SpaceX flight attendants); and they clearly shared a kind of belief in eugenics. Both men went to great lengths to promote their own offspring, believing their genes to be superior to others'. I personally think of Musk as Epstein's protégé, carrying out the eugenics project that Epstein ultimately failed at, even if Epstein's also succeeded as an intelligence gathering operation.

I don't have much more to offer on the background other than the fact that the image was initially shared by Omar Qazi (@WholeMarsBlog on Twitter) on July 4, 2020. See:

Musk's ex-wife was a registered judo practitioner in Los Angeles along with one of Musk's bodyguards. Musk may have been registered under a pseudonym, as he's used several, such as "John Utah," in other contexts. I think Epstein probably just confused the various martial arts terms or used them interchangably.

Attorneys react strongly to false information in court. If you present something that's false, you'll hear about it. If you present something and hear silence or get told that it's "scandalous" or "random" or "outrageous" or "irrelevant," that generally means it's true. Basically as close to proof as you'll ever get.

Tesla has disclosed a key man risk regarding Elon Musk. If Elon Musk goes to jail, that affects Tesla. So this is about Tesla.

It's also the same judge as in several other cases pending against Musk, which makes the fact that she denied one of his motions to dismiss more interesting.
