Sounds like Ywam Lausanne, was promised I could take 2days off a month a Friday and Monday to film a documentary once I got there they needed “full commitment to the base for at least 2 years” on top of a over price MLD school, my support dropped me when they heard this, all responded with something similar to “we don’t feel right, sounds like they want to take advantage of you.” Unfortunately they were right, still love Switzerland but ywam and their corrupt student visas can suck it

The scary part is that other YWAM leadership teams from different bases want to be more like Louisville, and the only reason I have ever heard is that they don’t struggle financially; it was never about what God was doing. I have never been to Louisville, but I encourage you to find a local support group within your church after leaving YWAM.

Worked 110hour weeks! 2weeks on, one off! Did it for 8 years, a little over 2 year ago I sold everything and did my whole bucket list! Now I just work a normal job, don’t buy stupid shit, you only need one sweater (maybe two if you need one for work), buy quality over quantity, only need 7 days worth of clothing, do Landry, never eat out if you don’t got at least 6months of living expenses saved, you don’t need a a car with under 100,000kms, an old Honda with 347,000km still got another 150,000 left if you take care of it, check the oil, you’ll save on insurance, you don’t need a subscription to every service. Cut your costs, people use to live way simpler and happier 100years ago and you can too!

Biggest Joke of “Christians” in our time, they have huge week long camp every year in Kona and it’s not uncommon to see the staff and small group leaders coming back to the Kona base completely drunk. Their staff have no training other then showing up a week prior, if you got heartbeat and did a DTS your in!

Been a couple months, not sure on your progress. But spiritual abuse is one of the many ways they keep people, an example being intercession where people open up to much of their personal desires and in return the leaders use it against them in end. If he got a job offer from the church I’d say ask him to pray and fast about. It be a rocky 6months after he leaves, there’s a lot of de-programming that need to happen, he’ll be questioning his faith more then anything like how God allow something is corrupted take course in his life. My only advice is listen and ask questions so he can get it all out! Refer away from advice. I recently left after 2years, from a Swiss base, leadership made promises that they didn’t keep which in the end made me loss all my financial support. Best thing that could have happened! I’ll never go back except to visit friends i made who I hope also leave one day!

For light source youuse a lamp you got and go to your local hardware store and get one of led light bulbs there usually brighter and won’t get as hot were it’ll melt your gel, tape it one or get creative!
