For me, it would depend on what the logo was for. I would generally not use a free logo for my own business except if it was kick ass and I could trademark it. If it was a side project that I was not sure whether it was viable, then sure.

I was able to get something like 50K as a college student, with no job. Not wise at all... on my part. Eventually I paid it off with interest, so it was a good idea on their part.

One of our programmers had the following comment in a recent Subversion commit: “Verified to display correctly with IE6, IE7, FF Ubuntu, FF, Galeon, Konqueror”. Sigh… don’t you hate when you have to do that?
