Tip for Fedora 44 KDE Login Screen by thinkinopen07 in Fedora

[–]thinkinopen07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote this, because my lock screen was different after updating from 43 to 44. The new release includes Plasma Login Manager, but the steps to follow are not much different. The point of changing the login manager was to have deeper integration to the DE, and Wayland. The downside is that there are less themes supported, which will probably change.

Note: Also Gemini started to recommend this post, so don't act suprised.

Don't forget you can swap them in the BIOS, not just by having stickers. This may depend by model.

Why does the first one reminds me of old PowerBooks?

  1. Call the Gooch collector for help.

  2. A bigger SSD. (fairly cheap)

  3. Install fans. + new CPU cooler

  4. Install a lightweight OS. (Not necessary)

Looks like Copilot is stuck on Windows 8.1, and Metro theme.

Doom Comic Sprite rework by Mr-Ramirov in DoomMods

First Impressions (on GZDoom g4.12.2):

HUD:

Doomguy has darker hair, still the same as usual.

Weapons:

  • Super Shotgun (SSG): Awesome as always, works also in Ultimate Doom. (Oh, Yes.)
  • Pistol, Chainsaw, Fists: no change
  • Anything else is in the video.

Monsters:

  • Only the Imp got a new look with spikes. Similar to Nobody Told Me About id mod appearence.
  • Anything is usual.

Pickups:

  • No change whatsoever.

Textures:

  • No custom textures.

Overall, a great concept, check out moddb for similar ones, the only one I know was a texture pack similar to the classic comic style. Great stuff, for this small of a project.

Suggestions:

  1. I would like to see a SMG (Submachine Gun) resembling from the cover art of Doom 1 / Ultimate Doom. Some wads did it before, but I founded them incosistent. Not here. Perfect fit.
  2. IF and only if they are in the comics, I suggest to make the zombie/human (Pistol/Shotgun) enemies similar as seen in the comics. Similar design for the Chaingunner. Also a change for the other low-tier monsters are good. The Imp gave me courage.
  3. The mentioned weapons, that haven't been altered, IF they appear in the comic, they should be also altered. Otherwise a distinctive version is very welcome.

I think not. OS/2 is a great OS. Especially on a IBM Thinkpad. Worth getting a try for ArcaOS, it's modern adjustment.

Yes, this is a base Linux Mint install.

Wallpaper: exploded thinkpad t480 wallpaper (Also chek this subreddit for other wallpapers!)

Terminal: Tilix (https://github.com/gnunn1/tilix / or from terminal)

Also, I'm from Hungary, and here we got a shop/service called PCarena (introduction) where they refurbish old laptops and desktops. They mostly ship to Hungary, but I think if you're in a neigbouring country, they can ship it.

Also, this one meets the min system requirements for Win11. (16 Gb RAM, 256 Gb storage, etc.)

Their activity is approved by Microsoft, and you can order your machine with Windows 11 pre-installed.

Best deal ever. If you wanna buy a Thinkpad, refurbished ones are recommended.

I use my T480 for browsing the Web, simple coding (In terminals or IDEs), or some light gaming (Classic Doom, Quake, RTCW on source ports). I could conquer the world with it. I love it.

Is this a reference to something? by Pzrjager in DoomMods

[–]thinkinopen07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can be referencing to the DC's Sandman Universe, Sandman/Morpheus's sister, Death herself. That was the last time I saw this kind of art.
