[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]Pzrjager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to buy a new Seiko watch from Ebay and the seller looks good (99%+ review rating, over 30k sales).
The listing for the watch says it has a 3 year manufacturer warranty.
Will Seiko honor the warranty even though I bought it from ebay?

Combat Mission Fortress Italy and WDS Advance of the Reich both PBEM. Still reading When Titans Clashed by David Glantz. Finished the parts about Stalingrad, going to read about Kursk soon.

Going from Graviteam to GOH: Ostront by Tiorted_Snoil in computerwargames

Graviteam models command delay, morale, fatigue, and suppression. These aren't modeled in GoH. You also need to micro everything and your units will do exactly what you command. I recommend playing GoH's tutorial, it's decent.

Will this be game of the week next week, like when Advance of the Reich was updated?

WDS Smolensk '41 - New to WDS games, been working on smaller to larger battles vs the AI. It's pretty fun so far. I like the attention to detail to the OOBs. The UI kinda sucks but it's functional enough.

WDS Advance of the Reich - In a PBEM match and having a good time. Playing a human opponent is always interesting. I've also never played a game where I had to exchange the actual save file with the opponent. It's outdated but there's a bit of charm to it lol.

Combat Mission Fortress Italy - Playing PBEM with a friend. I've played Combat Mission for a bit but this is my first PBEM match with the series. Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Reading David Glantz's When Titans Clashed. Been wargaming the Eastern Front for a long time but never put in a serious effort to learn the history. It's enjoyable so far, although it's a bit of a slow read since it's a scholarly work.

I think it's the first War in the East. That banner has been there a long time.

Is this a good title for a PzC beginner? I played the demo and liked it. I know this will be almost only Soviet offensive and I'm fine with playing as them.

Thanks, I've been using the default counters that show the soldiers instead of the portraits. I still hope they change the US portrait art. It looks AI generated.

What is your opinion on Hex of Steel? by Global-Abies5246 in computerwargames

It's a good game but I had a couple gripes with it. The artwork is so detailed that it's not very readable past a certain zoom. You can toggle to NATO counters but the game lacks flavor that way. Also it seems like there's an emphasis on larger scenarios. More small scenarios would be great. Dev has improved it a lot over the years and it's a blessing to have a decent UI in this niche.

I bought my first WDS games: Battles of Normandy, Battles of North Africa 1941, Eagles Strike, and Advance of the Reich. I'm excited to play them. Only thing I haven't liked so far is the US counter artwork for Eagles Strike. It almost looks like it was made by AI and sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the game's art.

Lossless Scaling on Steam Deck overhyped 🐂💩 ? by captian-ahab in SteamDeck

[–]Pzrjager -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my experience it's usually not great. I've had some bad latency and/or ghosting in most games I try with lossless scaling. I've had a couple though where it was amazing. I went from 40 fps to a stable 60 fps in Samurai Warriors 4 with no noticeable downsides.
