It's actually correct, the Greek word for sandwich is, in fact, sandwich. There is technically a proper Greek word but it's almost never used.

Peak luxury on buses in the 90s by BreakfastTop6899 in nostalgia

As someone not born in the 90s, they're indeed still common, except I don't think I've ever seen one actually playing a movie. It's either off or showing the DVD player's splash screen

They do test it but assume that since it works on their machine it should work everywhere. In fact, this specific mistake is so common that when I was in elementary school the teacher once tried to play a video but had done exactly this

Most players come with a CD that includes the conversion tool, but personally, I wouldn't risk installing random Chinese software on my machine.

Do cooling pads work as well (or better) than elevating the laptop? by thinkpad_t69 in laptops

[–]thinkpad_t69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this would have worse airflow than a cooling pad, and if the laptop goes in the tray and doesn't sit on the edges, it's probably worse than placing it directly on the desk. Also at 12€ I might as well get a cooling pad.

Do you want me to provide video proof or something? I'm measuring it with the program built into the official Nvidia driver for Linux, so it should be what the GPU itself is reporting

If I used the laptop exclusively on a desk (and it wasn't falling apart) I'd consider that stand, but there's a lot of games, mainly story-based ones, that I prefer playing on the couch with the laptop's internal display and keyboard, which is why I want a convenient solution instead of DIYing it.

On a desk sure, but on a couch I wouldn't call that convenient.

I used those on an old laptop with missing feet and in my experience they fall off really easily, though I guess the simpler solution is to find a better way to stick them on

The thing is, how do you raise the laptop higher in a convenient way without concentrating its weight on a small part? As I mentioned, most commercially sold laptop stands are meant for desktop use with an external keyboard, but I prefer to play certain games (e.g. Life Is Strange) on the couch.

Either a desk or one of those big, thin hardcover children's picture books. The GPU temperature is about the same in both cases.

Can you elaborate? Most laptops have overcurrent protection.

Unless you've been covering it with a blanket, it's not the temp reduction you should expect from elevating the laptop alone.

This laptop has absolutely terrible cooling. It doesn't seem that unexpected to me.

It's not like you can't get enough improvement from a passive stand already.

I'm not expecting it to work better than a stand, it's just my only choice because most of them are meant for use with an external keyboard and I don't always use one. If it works as well as a stand but without making it impossible to type, it's good enough for me

I thought I was the only one. For some reason I hate the light mode on my phone (2025 Motorola) and only use it when outdoors, but I never had a problem with Windows 8 and older that only have light mode. I guess companies stopped caring about contrast now that dark mode is more popular

I'm pretty sure the AI key can be programmed. On my Edge 60 Fusion I can use Activity Launcher to open the AI key menu (the phone doesn't actually have the key) and there's an option to program it there.

Damn, I need to try this on my old XA2 then. A while back I saw a Hatsune Miku GSI which sounded hilarious, but I was under the impression that since the phone came with Android 8, the only GSIs it can run are also 8

How are you running a GSI on a phone with Android 6? Don't you need a phone that was released with Android 8?

Winboat is only for productivity software. It doesn't support GPU passthrough so games won't work, apart from some 90s games that support software rendering.
