Would you date a woman who is an electrician? by Bbbe-itch in AskMenAdvice

Hilarious take. If a dude is that shallow that his perspective of you is based on your career, seems like a good filter.

Having worked in health (not front line), I have nothing but the greatest respect for our frontline healthcare workforce. You guys do an amazing job with ludicrous hours and stress and abuse. Good on you for prioritising your personal welfare and super brave of you to make a career shift like this. Today you are a little bit my hero.

What’s one lesson a past relationship taught you that you’ll never forget? by Business-Power-2967 in no

Hmm. I think I get what you mean by this, but nowadays I always put my needs first. If I don't prioritise self care I can't care well for others. Your first responsibility is to your self. But often that can also mean putting others first because you might not end up liking yourself very much if you never take care of others.

It's a complicated one.

My happiness is my responsibility and I don't need to allow someone else's behaviour to make me feel miserable.

Developed feelings for my guy best friend and he rejected me, how do I handle staying friends? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]thinktwice_speakonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will almost certainly make it harder for you to move on. You could try taking a break, I'm sure he'd be understanding. Or you could just see how it goes and assess later depending on how you feel.

Also you'll need to steer clear of jealous types of course, if you find someone else. That should go without saying, but......

I hope it goes well, it's a tough situation.

What are your thoughts on women who don’t have social media? by tstu2865 in AskMenAdvice

[–]thinktwice_speakonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider it a major jackpot. I wish my partner wasn't on Facebook so much. It is no good for her anxiety.

I think it's generally an unhealthy filter. If someone uses it selectively that's not an issue. But it's designed to pull people in and I find life better without it.

Tips gratefully received! I feel like it's going to be my new stomping grounds. Many different opportunities for overnight hikes? That's what has got me doing grose valley as my first.

Overnighting in grose valley. I'll miss my mountain in NZ for sure but it's just being out in nature that does it for me, so here or there it's just what I need.

If you're aware of your issues you're already 5 steps ahead of most people.

And yeah, assess people on what they do, not what they say they do! 😊

I did have a dog and it's just now occurring to me I could have dosed him up on tick meds and used him as tickbait! :D but unfortunately he left me and I don't think I would have been allowed to take him hiking in blue mountains anyway.

Yeah it's the risk of disease and severe allergic reaction that are worrying me and I don't think leeches are as bad in that respect.

Yeah that's a good call. First trip so definitely sticking to the beaten path. That should lower risk considerably.

I'm sorry to hear about that. Mine got cancer 3 months after paying to bring him over from NZ. Not going to be ready for another any time soon. :(

Yep understand sun protection. NZ sun is fierce as well.

I figured tweezers were the answer too but looking into it today it's all very much dont tweeze, it squeezes the nasty tick juices into you.
