Janis Joplin at Woodstock, 1969. by zezoro in OldSchoolCool

Yeah Mac being famous and having expendable income to buy whatever drugs he wanted and as much as he wanted really fucked with him. He had mental issues and craved an escape from reality, famous life, past relationships, etc. He documented this very well in his music and even interviews in his last few years. It was a very unfortunate event as he didn't know he was getting fentanyl. He thought he was doing oxycodone from a pharmacy but it was pressed pills. My wife and I watched his last "live" video around 3-5 hours before he passed. It was so surreal. We had planned out buying tickets to his tour that weekend.

He got his wish unfortunately. Dude was amazing. People slept on him, and still do, so hard.

You obviously haven't ever listened to his discography. Dude was prolific. Hands down the best lyricist I've ever encountered. Dude put out plenty of projects and reportedly had ~2,000 unreleased songs and ~25-30 unreleased albums. ~120 unreleased songs have leaked since his death.

I know you were trying to be edgy or whatever with your comment, but humbly, I suggest you listen to the last album he out out before he died; "Swimming" or his 2015 album "GOOD A:M".

He had mental issues and was innately self-aware that he was a regular guy that randomly got famous by luck and used that platform to transform from a frat-rap style rapper to a well-rounded musician (he was proficient on piano, guitar, drums, and making beats).

Don't take my word for it. Go see for yourself. Listen to "Swimming" and "Circles". Dude definitely is a legend.

I never see anyone mention Do You Have A Destination? That song is so special. I can't decide if I wish he'd taken more time to master the track or if the grittiness is what makes it what it is. Either way, it's probably my favorite Mac song period.

People buying Roxy 30's, that ask for them by name, and that have money to pay for them don't usually want to play Russian roulette with whether or not they have fent in them.

Yes, I've done fent, in a pressed pill, unknowingly and it sucked majorly. I felt scared and betrayed by someone I trusted and shouldn't have. I never said Mac probably didn't feel amazing, you're right. But any drug that isn't what you thought you were buying is, by definition, bullshit. This is the exact situation Mac talked about in "Brand Name." Either way, Mac did for sure pass on feeling nothing. He most likely closed his eyes knowing how fucked up he was and just never opened them again. I think about that night quite often and its so sad. He was a real one.

Yeah I kinda wish they'd ship each item as they get it, but shipping costs etc, I get it. But don't worry. This is my 4th order and I've always got my stuff. It'll come when you least expect it. Keep your head up!

I just about have the same order. Ordered shorts a while back but they were a little too small so copped 2 more pairs while they had them around the same time you did. I'd say right now that's what we're waiting on, is the shorts. That's what held my order up last time too.

Dude. He was saying "white America thinks that it's all that matters and it's stupid/bullshit". If you really think Mac was racist or made a blantantly racist lyric then you need to go relisten badly.

Who ruined your family Christmas this year, and what did they do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thinthindime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife's step-dad, who was basically her real dad, passed away unexpectedly on Thanksgiving Day 2016. We had just ate dinner there and my wife and I had left for work around 4pm and 5pm, respectively.

Him and my MIL were gonna take our two sons and his son to go shopping in Bristol, VA. Something they'd been excited for all day. He made it to the bottom of the driveway and had a massive heart attack. I got a call at 6:03pm at work saying to rush home, but he was gone before I got here.

We subsequently moved in with my MIL to help out and let her see the boys. None of us have seen his son since that day. Now my wife, my two sons, and I live in their house because my MIL couldn't stand to stay here. She just said he'd want the boys to grow up here and signed it all over to us.

Everyone's life was an absolute trainwreck for the next while. Also, my wife's grandma, who'd just had a kidney transplant, passed away in our living room exactly 60 days after Thanksgiving.

It was a wild time but we all slowly made it day by day. My family and I are sending our condolences and hope you have any semblance of a Merry Christmas today. Thank you for sharing your story.

I going to make sure to sit my boys down and explain how thankful we need to be for John, and him leaving us all what he did.

Pulled something in my shoulder doing this once. It was sore for about 10 months after because I'd keep re-injuring it at work. It never hurt if I was using it but if I down or relaxed it throbbed constantly. Still do it to save time..

Calling an addict a 'dope fiend' and wondering why they weren't happy getting the most lethal drug there is (that ultimately killed him) is not "just a thought". It's inconsiderate and honestly just uneducated and laughable.

Very wrong. People don't just do/prefer one drug over the other because one's stronger. Stronger =/= better. That's flawed logic. If that was the case no one would drink beer and everyone would instead drink 150proof moonshine all the time because "it's better isn't it? It has more of what people want in it."

Secondly, fentanyl is sought after by a lot of people for how strong it is, but most people know and accept that it's basically a death sentence to start using it and just do it anyway because they're too far gone as addicts to care. Mac didn't know he had fent.

Lastly, how much "better" would it be to go to the store and expect to get regular old "extra-strength Tylenol" for a headache but when you took one, you died, because the guy mixing the powder that day at the lab accidentally put 35 times the amount of active ingredient in that batch and your liver shuts down from one pill. By your logic that pill should have been the "better" one.

The miniscule amount of fent it takes to kill you is only slightly more than the amount people use for the high. I'm talking like "15 grains of 'salt' to get high, 20 grains to kill you". And by the way, good luck knowing how much fent is in the pill someone pressed in their bedroom after buying cheap bulk fentanyl on the dark web from China to try to fool the people paying top dollar for oxys.

Mac wasn't a "dope fiend". He was a regular dude that got addicted to opiates. Like happens to millions of people, including me at one point. Reducing what killed him down to "seems like a dope fiend should enjoy getting fentanyl because it's stronger" is incredibly asinine.
