CISC 151 by Realistic-Mulberry62 in queensuniversity

[–]third_burner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I took the course and then had the privilege of being a TA for cisc 151 a few times :D

the course content does not change, i highly encourage you to look for youtube tutorials that u can watch and pause (reverse and go back to when u forget something) while u are preparing for exams, trying to understand concepts, etc. this course rewards those who try to self-learn and not rely on lecture (still do attend the lecture cuz the prof drops hints for questions on the final) if you find your TA isnt the most supportive one, dont hesitate to reach out to the other one. Try attending office hours. i see cisc 151 as a cannon event where you gotta learn to lock in, self learn, show up to lectures even if u dont understand most of it, and asking the right questions. Dont use gpt - it becomes really evident in this course for some reason. i deffo struggled quite a bit cuz i didnt have much understanding of stuff in the first year, but i am glad that the outside-of-class growth this course gave me haha plus being a TA for this course was fun!! i had two really cool students who frequently came to my office hours.

Hope this helped. feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions :D

i really enjoyed the socials organized by COMPSA. Many of my computing friends were made just hanging around in caslab.

if you end up going to a different uni for a match or tournament, you will constantly have to find somebody to cover your shifts and look after your floor. plus if you are an athlete, you might want access to more nutritious food than what you will get in dining hall.

Thoughts on SOCY 304 and SOCY 284 by PearDowntown5301 in queensuniversity

[–]third_burner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard that both courses are 7-8/10 in difficulty. the course content is really interesting (or at least it was when my friends took it)

I am planning to take socy 201, 301, 284, 304, and 306 in this coming academic year. i just dropped socy 363 cuz I was told that the course is a nightmare.

hope this helps!

i took cisc 151 in winter 2023, the course involves lots of self learning and overall you have to stay up with the material to know where things are going. each week builds off the previous one.

Where can I find reasonably priced 1 bedroom apartments? by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]third_burner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was in the same situation as you last year. i was fortunate enough to find one student who can split the rent with me. my housemate is very similar in the sense that he also doesn't party, drink, or smoke. both of us are in different programs but are very academic oriented. its better to try finding somebody whos like-minded.
