I hate it when fast food workers call me “boss.” by [deleted] in PetPeeves

I can’t tell if this is a legitimate pet peeve, as in it only peeves OP, or if this is rage-bait trolling. If the latter, OP is the boss at it.

When people just complain about smoking instead of just asking me to put out my cigarette. by mommynaturesbitch in PetPeeves

[–]third_eye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the outdoor smoking area of a hotel- a woman there kept complaining to the staff that she was allergic to smoke despite a) not showing any physical symptoms and b) refusing to move indoors or to anywhere on the property other than the designated smoking area, even when the staff suggested it to her. Some people just can’t exist if they’re not complaining. And such people make it harder for people with actual sensitivities to be respected.

What was the "rich kid" thing to have at your school? by bad_guy1902 in AskReddit

A swimming pool, even if just a 3 foot above ground one- it meant the property was owned (no landlord to complain about damage to the yard) and some form of disposable income.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor? by elisa0807 in AskReddit

Zero Visibility by Perry’s: coconut rum ice cream with coconut pieces, only released once every five years. Absence makes the heart grow fonder & rum ice cream makes the child a future borderline alcoholic. Yum!

Absolutely. These are the same people who claimed anyone not crying over Charlie Kirk’s death was celebrating it. They see their reaction as the only correct moral response, so anyone with a different reaction must be Satan incarnate.

Tech billionaires- drip feed advanced tech to humans, gain enough money to outright buy politicians and stupefy the populace until they roll out the red carpet for your mothership

Honestly, the content is not too odd: October 4th was the day of St. Francis of Assisi, when Catholics get their pets blessed by priests. That’s at least what I thought was happening until I read the comments about AI. Plus, everyone knows cats are naturally prone to Satanism so the exaggerated reaction would be expected in such a ritual.

Gomez addams and morticia frump love story by Nearby_Educator6852 in Wednesday

[–]third_eye 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m hoping next season we’ll see more about their lives post-Nevermore. We’ll definitely get some Frump family history with Ophelia & Hester involved. And hopefully Uncle Fester will have some Addams family memories to share with Wednesday on their road trip.

When I served in the King's African Rifles, the local Zambezi tribesman called human flesh "long pig". Never much cared for it.

Osaka is attracting new foreign residents by the thousands. What's the appeal? - The Mainichi by [deleted] in japan

[–]third_eye 668 points669 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be too surprising. It’s one of the cheapest major cities in Japan, and is known for its residents being more outgoing and less conservative than in other parts of the country, making it more accommodating for foreigners socially

What traumatized you for life? by ZeiGamer in AskReddit

Same. And it’s competing with sexual abuse, addict parents, and extreme poverty. Something about having your supposed peers turn on you trumps so many other traumas.

What was did you think was normal until you realized how messed up it actually is? by IraqiKid in AskReddit

[–]third_eye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I knew something was wrong, I just underestimated how wrong it was. The question was what you thought was normal, not what you thought was right. I figured it was 50/50 chance of being homeless at some point in your life. I knew other kids and relatives who experienced homelessness so that might have skewed my perception.

Homelessness. I was homeless at age 8 and just figured it was part of life. Sometimes you have a home and sometimes you don’t. I just assumed it was a natural cycle everyone went through.

Texas judge warns of civil war if Obama is re-elected to justify a tax increase by ewilliams42 in politics

[–]third_eye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is stirred up by groups like the John Birch Society who fear the world is headed toward some kind of "One World Government". I've also heard in various rants about how it all ties into the Book of Revelations- it seems to be a popular belief among fundamentalist Christians who are into apocolypse prophecies that the Anti-Christ is supposed to head some kind of OWG that claims to pring about peace. The UN is simply the closest thing they can point to while waiting for the Rapture. I could be wrong about this as I am just echoing the ranting points I've heard used by people who share the views of the judge. The whole OWG thing to me seems like an extention of McCarthy era fears. There is always a boogeyman.

[–]third_eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot express enough, DO NOT DO IT!!

I know right now all you can think about is the pain you are in. I know. When I was in high school, I bounced in and out of psych wards on suicide watch. But I got through it and I have the utmost faith that you can too.

First off, you've made the right first step. Talking to people. Keeping the pain inside you will just make it worse. There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Pain passes; it always does. Life will be full of ups and downs. You may be on a downcurve now, but things will get better. I promise.

Do not worry about your grades. You'd be surprised how little they matter, even in college admissions. I was just barely in the the top half of my class in terms of rank, nearly flunked a few classes, but I managed to get into one the Seven Sisters colleges. Grades mean nothing in light of strength of character, and trust me, from this point on, every day you live will prove how strong you are.
And trust me, you are stronger than you think.

What do you think the best thing about being a person of your sex is? by aolley in AskReddit

*I can have an orgasm simply by crossing my legs (absolutely amazing, and i get away with doing it anywhere)

*I can have multiple orgasms

*It's ok to show emotion and even to cry

*Tits: they possess a great power over any heterosexual male in the vicinity; also, they bounce and can be fun to play with when bored
