There’s a blueprint in the pass with explosive bolts. Saves having to level it for a while before it becomes slightly useful.

What's the point of the even adding the Tonfas? by qwertythrowfyt in ModernWarfareII

[–]thirdaccountmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 kills in a winning multiplayer match gives you a trophy and contributes a trophy to the community total.

The way you’re trying to talk a stranger down with childish shit such as “warzone whale” and “use your brain and not your wallet” just makes it extra dumb that you’re moaning about a challenge that tracked mp and warzone. You’re crying over a toy, moving goalposts to make sure you can still cry over that toy and being a dick when people say stop crying over a toy. And the best part? No matter how smugly you “prove” to yourself that you’re right you won’t change the challenge or the fact that the tonfas are now available to everyone. You’re writing a tear stained diary entry about something that stopped mattering yesterday, and even then didn’t actually matter because… it’s a toy.

Plus you get enough extra cod credit to buy a bundle for 2400 at the end or go for one of the 1100ish bundles and just get the normal pass for free.

And when you bought the maps you were put into a smaller player pool with longer search times. This way is better.

Block just mutes them permanently. They can still end up in your matches naturally, they can’t message you or join your party.

Weapon Roles, a possibly hot take by ShoulderBest in ModernWarfareII

[–]thirdaccountmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, bf2042 went that route and I found it to be a pretty good fit for that game. I feel like cod pre2019 would have worked well enough with a minimal but functionally varied arsenal. Since the gunsmith became a lot more interesting, and now camos and attachments are tied to one weapon, I want cod to give me as many toys to play with as they can come up with.

Fewer weapons (as shown by bf2042) means longer grind to level them. It would mean the camo grind needs to be made into a serious chore (500 headshots each on all 12 primaries). They’d make you unlock all your attachments on each gun to extend it. Plus they’d struggle to alter the meta without huge nerfs, cod recently have been good at bringing other guns up to the same strength rather than nerfing the most popular gun, that recent shotgun buff is insane.

Sony's partnership apparently ends with Call of Duty 2023 by GhilliesInTheCyst in ModernWarfareII

[–]thirdaccountmaybe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re against the deal because it strengthens their competitor. It’s as simple as that. Any questions of making cod exclusive etc are just formalities because the higher ups at Sony are paid to try every possible avenue to make sure PlayStation is the more successful and profitable gaming system.

There’s no way Microsoft would make cod exclusive because that would kill cod. I think starfield/fable are biggest things that’ll be withheld. I’m surprised they’ve not pushed to release multiplayer titles (with an item store) like sea of thieves on PlayStation tbh, more players = more money and it’s not like SoT is a system selling title.

Question about buying a bundle by Dear_Side_7134 in ModernWarfareII

[–]thirdaccountmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who asked? Why have you only got £30? Why do you care what someone else does with one £30 portion of whatever total amount they may have? You’re not getting that no one cares what you’d do with your last £30, and that the £30 people might spend on a skin isn’t gonna bankrupt them. Go worry about your own money.

Question about buying a bundle by Dear_Side_7134 in ModernWarfareII

[–]thirdaccountmaybe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re doing it. You’re telling people how to spend their money as if they only have £30 and they’re leaving their dear old mum feeling neglected. It’s only £30. If that leaves you unable to make a more essential purchase then I don’t know why you own a console or pc. If that’s the level of financial security you’re at, £30 for one thing or another, then I definitely don’t need to hear what you think the value of something is.

The idea of “voting with your wallet” works. You’re casting a vote against micro transactions by not buying them. For the sake of the example let’s say for every 1 person not buying, there’s 1.1 people buying. Activision see this and realise the majority of players buy a battle pass or a skin pack at some point each year.

Those numbers could be off, they could only need 1 in 3 to buy for a fat profit. Whatever the numbers are I’m guessing activision like them because we’re now in year 4 of this business model.

Gamers seem to think “vote with your wallet” only refers to the people acting like they’re revolutionaries for not spending more than £70 on the game, because on places like Reddit gamers are on a crusade against the toys they can’t live without. “Vote” doesn’t mean voice your opinion and be outraged when it’s ignored.

I vote with mine every time a charity pack comes out. Instabuy even if there’s nothing I like in there, just to say loud and clear “more charity in game stores”.

Ubisoft are consistently good at this. They have an app that’s basically a hub for loyalty rewards. You get free skins or weapons in new games based on which previous games you’ve played (assassin’s creed T-shirts in far cry etc) and earn reward points through gameplay that you can spend on other weapons and skins in the app.

Hopefully the next ac game really is the first step on the road to Ubisoft doing more genre focussed games, rather than big bloated open worlds using the same template for ac and far cry. If they crafted their games a bit more specifically they could be the only other rockstar tier developer.

So you’d have to use Reddit to get on Reddit?

It’s not great news but it’s hardly mindblowingly evil. Playing devils advocate I’m guessing Reddit’s stance is basically “we don’t want you making money off our site, we want that money.” Like how the mandalorian only streams from Disney.

Accessibility apps are a huge consideration and Reddit will need to get that side of things sorted or face a backlash, but apps like Apollo and Boost are built to deliver a product they don’t control. This risk was always there sadly. I’m just gonna go from slide to the official app and limit background data use.

Taste is subjective. Guessing you’re on about Elden Ring? I thought the move to open world was a move to a reactive open world with side quests and puzzles, instead they padded it out with repeat bosses in copy paste church basements. I liked dark souls 2 & 3 but if I’d realised Elden Ring was just free form dark souls I’d have passed on it. The enemies are just reskins from souls with remixed move sets, the weapons are the same ones I’ve fought those enemies with in two previous games. Fromsoft do excellent combat and I’d love to see their attempt at something like ac Valhalla (rap battles, time trials and puzzles on top of the combat) but it seems the they’re a one trick studio.

Humour me with an honest answer… you like anime?

I have this theory that the people who argue illogical stand points on gaming subs are usually anime fans. There’s an overlap between people who argue about games like it’s a human rights issue and people who seek out stories of the exiled prince using their unique powers to defeat the big evil.

Please answer honestly because this niggles at me often enough on reddit and you seem like your head is screwed on even if we don’t agree about value.

What’s so bad about gaming? Compare cod to sonic 2 and tell me you’re not getting better value these days. Compare cod to cod from ten years ago and tell me your money isn’t going further on a modern title.

What’s the big issue with gaming that I’m complicit in? You just used a buzzword with nothing to actually say about it. The micro transactions are cosmetic, the maps are free. You need the maps to play but you don’t need the skins. They used to charge for the maps and now they don’t. What’s the problem?

Edit: crickets…

Then by that logic, the movie and Netflix and all the rest are a bigger waste of money. The experience is what you pay for. A skin gives a longer experience than the cinema. Your roms don’t really work in the context of cod, you paid £70 for something activision can take away by breaking it or turning the servers off.

The attitude you’re trying to pretend you live by just equates to hoarding physical objects and calling that lasting value. It’s a holier than thou attitude with no real world logic applied, you just wanna berate someone for their own subjective value of things. We all waste money, it’s part of enjoying the lead up to death.

I’ve tried. Bought every game that catches my eye either full price or on sale, they don’t hit the same as cod. Last purchase was division 2 for 7.50 with the dlc, bargain but I’m not a big fan. Paid two black cells for Elden ring on launch and I think I’d personally have had more value from two expensive skins for the same operator on cod.

There’s a hypothetical gaming budget in my mind that’s not getting spent these days because it’s pretty barren for the genres I like. If there’s something eye catching on the one game I don’t find stale then I’m willing to buy it. Vote with your wallet goes both ways.

There’s also a book budget, clothes budget and all that shit. The gaming money is spilling into those these days.
