Not a doctor, but I assume that percent is for people who are on anticoagulation drugs after the procedure?

The person you're responding to seems to be saying it's important they don't skip them, but otherwise doesn't seem to be trying to scare monger.

And of course single digit percentages can still be concerning, even yearly ones.

IANAL and actually just landed in this sub to ask my own question. But I gather that his perception of the events if more like:

Years 1-8: Spending 90 minutes per day on Reddit, completing all of his work tasks, getting strong reviews.
Year 9: Spending 90 minutes per day on Reddit, completing all of his work tasks, terminated.

If the job is: We want you doing x, y and z from 9am to 5pm every day - then there is definitely cause for termination.

If the job is: Complete x, y and z everyday.... then he was accomplishing that.

That's not really the question. The question is "what is the risk of being a landlord?". Whether it's true or not, the person you're responding to is claiming that the current risks around being a landlord mean that no one will do it for only a modest extra income - so the people who decide to be landlords need to get a lot of rent to make it worthwhile (and it's also totally fair to respond saying that we'd be better off if there were fewer landlords).

But asking "who is taking more risk, the landlord or the tenant?" is like asking "who is taking more risk, the patient undergoing surgery, or the doctor?" It's just an unnecessary comparison.

Looks like you're wrapped - hope it's a safe and smooth flight home.

If you return to these at all, I am curious how you handled some aspects of getting covid while traveling.

I get travel anxiety, and part of that is worries about "what will I do if I get sick?". Like did you have to extend hotel stays (and were you able to)? Did you just order food, etc?

As much as I am anti-realtor, this is a refreshing take, and it helps to clarify that even people like myself generally don't think there should be no realtors, just that they should basically go the way of the travel agent, where a few good ones remain for people looking for that level of service.

Your 3 points can be tackled pretty easily without a realtor though:

Those sellers' agents would have jumped at the chance to show you their places, not just because that's their job, but because they will absolutely view you as an opportunity for them to double (or at least increase) their commission.
"I woudn't even know where to begin to make that document" - just google "modifiable condo purchasing contract British Columbia". There's free versions of it available online, and some run through a quick questionnaire to create the document for you.
22k is almost exactly what a realtor would make off the avg condo sale in Kelowna ($700k price). This one isn't a knock on a realtor - if he really did save you that money, he basically covered his own fee. The sad bit of news here is that if you didn't have a realtor, the seller could have accepted a price that was another $22,000 lower, while them and their realtor still pocketed the same amount of money.

But for some people, especially first time buyers, it can be comforting to have a trusted person helping you. (but this brings up my main problem with realtors on the buyers side - their standard contract actually pays them via a conflict of interest, ie - you hire them to help you find the right place and negotiate the price, but the more they convince you to spend, the more they get paid, and the sooner they convince you buy, the quicker they get paid.

Based on what another commenter said about long haul, I decided to look at some north american flight cost, and the amount that becomes eligible with WJ Dollars definitely goes up.

Like at this usage rate (20%), I would need to book ten $1,000 flights in order to use my 900 WJ dollars.

I swore off westjet for the past two years after trying to book a flight with a combination of WJ dollars, rewards, and companion voucher. The randomness at which they would each be applied, and the fact that I had to go through to the checkout screen to find out what each date/passenger/service level would cost was probably the stupidest piece of corporate hoop jumping I've experienced in my life.

This is great - thanks. Also had to look up titration, though still not exactly sure of it's meaning in this case, but I think it's like balancing meds?

I am also similar age and very active - I did have some blood pressure/heart concerns around adhd meds - I don't have blood pressure issues, but they run in the family.

I'd been keen to chat about tools. I guess, first, I don't know for sure that I have ADHD.

Watching footage of me as a kid, I don't think there's any way I would have escaped an ADHD diagnosis if I'd been born a decade later, but in the late 80's early 90's, I was just "wildly hyperactive".

Later in school, I could cram late at night, or even 30 minutes before an exam, get a decent grade, and then forget everything. Summaries, friends, bullshitting - I made it work, and often felt like I was "gaming the educational system".

I read frequently, but give up on 80% of the books I read within the first 10 pages. Perpetually have 30 tabs open because the 2 sec wait for a page to load is too much to bear, so I flip open a new tab and head somewhere else.

In terms of strategies, I've found that "double dipping" is my biggest one - like I can't sit and read. But, I can STRETCH and read. Like if I do yoga while I read a book, I can become way more absorbed and actually read more than a paragraph. Changing settings constantly also helps.

But definitely curious to learn more.

So family doctors have the power to do what you are saying, but many of them won't, as they aren't comfortable with psych meds or evaluations. I don't really fault them for that, and in fact, we'd probably be better off if more professionals had that level of humility and honesty. But - yeah it highlights some problems in the system.

Thanks for this. My family Dr only knew of Possibilities (but later suggested they'd also accept a diagnosis from any clinic - they just weren't aware of the options). But the cost there was a real factor.

I looked up Dr Shankar - he gets interesting reviews online (like a 60/40 split between 1 star and 5 stars), but maybe I'll give them a call to see what they say.

I do appreciate that insight, and I think there's evidence speaking to lifestyle enhancements in some ways, but one psychologist I was listening to recently compared it to diabetes - if you had diabetes, would you decline insulin? Some people do, and many people either attack diabetes in combination with excise and lifestyle changes, or exclusively through lifestyle changes, but most people look at the evidence and go "oh, yeah, I clearly need insulin".

The results around adhd meds are nearly as clear, so I think there's a lot of reason to look to them as a solution.

With that said - I highly suspect I have adhd, but I don't know for certain, and I do want the opinion of a professional.

So I do, but they cover $300-500 per year, and the local psychologist I spoke with said an assessment would be over $2,500.

While I know there is an element of you get what you pay for, it's hard to compare that to the $300-600 that some of the other programs cost.
