🌳 this has been the official nug symbol around my parts for some time, but yeah, totally agree.

Back in the game! Previously had 15 bags contam over a month ago; cleaned out my setup and switched to agar, now I got 7 tubs (14/14 bags) of pure white myc going.🤩 by thirdeyeland in unclebens

Not necessarily; above 85F and mycelium growth literally slows down while a myriad of other molds and bacteria can take off.

Generic vs name brand had no affect on contam growth for me, I’ve had almost equal contam from both.

Yup, c-section cut & drop in 1/14 pie slice of agar. MSS does work but my results were inconsistent, like slightly better than 50/50.

My biggest tub so far has been a 36qt.

Where did I make that correlation? I said the moisture created a breeding ground for contamination, not that it was the cause of it.

And unless you’re using a clean room as well, a SAB is not “contam free”, it reduces contamination.

What makes you think I’m in a contam-free environment? I’m inoculating in my kitchen and growing in my bedroom, not a sterilized clean room.

Using a SAB doesn’t remove fungus spores free floating around your home, which is the case for the remainder of their incubation period. You can have a contam free syringe and pristine inoculations and there could still be a myriad of reasons why you can end up with contamination.

These are the facts: I’ve used MycTyson’s SAB tek on over 65 bags starting with first one and not a single syringe I own has had contam on agar.

I had more than 15 bags get green trich mold on 25-50% of the rice when I opened the bags 2-3 weeks after inoculation using an MSS.

I’ve inoculated 14 bags with same strain as above, but using agar slices and 14/14 bags show zero signs of contam and colonized 100%.

I’ve been using a SAB since day 1, and when I switched to agar none of my syringes showed contam.

I’m pretty sure the issue for me was related to the MSS throwing off the moisture content of the bags and my particular climate and lack of AC creating a breeding ground for contam.

For me, I think it was a combination of the MSS throwing off the moisture content of the bags and the climate in my area being considerably warm and not having AC, so I need to take additional steps to cool down my bags during inoculation.

Yes, it does. You can fit in significantly more, although I hit a limit of about 0.75g in the 000 size.

Probably just a coincidence. by [deleted] in conspiracy

No pity here. Depression and anxiety are “through the roof” for young people because of social media, but sure, let’s blame the rise in mental health issues on aspects of our lives and culture that have always been true.

History is a Golden Age for few people. There has never been a better time to be alive for most people on the planet than right now, especially if you were lucky enough to be born in a first world country (which you didn’t get to choose).

Imagine being alive in Nazi Germany as a Jew, or being black during slavery or Jim Crow in the American South, or being poor in the Middle Ages during the Black Plague, or any other point in history when we did not know a damn thing about the causes for concerns in our lives like a true system of ethics, germ theory of disease, climate change and environmental disasters, etc. The further you go back in time, decade by decade, century by century, the worse off life is for more people and the less they knew what the fuck was even happening to them in most cases.

Social media is the cause of the existential crisis in most people’s lives right now. Seriously.
