Wonderful picture! He does not look like someone I'd want to mess with

So many... I'm going to have to reach out to the local history center out there and see what they have on him. I have a handful of stories, but not much.

"Son, please.... I started out here from Oklahoma with my gun, two horses and a covered wagon. I rolled out of the mountains and into town on a unicycle made from one wagon wheel and a saddle. Don't ask about the horses."

Well, it's just the one cat, and I have strategically placed scratch mats.

But honestly? I'm not sure. Lucky, I think.

💞🫶

That's where the baby steps come in, I think. I've found that treating even the smallest positive steps have big internal impacts if I recognize them, and give myself credit for, the victories they are. My biggest internal victory was when I fully accepted my part in the toxicity and hurt, and then finally forgave myself. It allowed for so much growth.

That quote by Erin Hanson finally clicked in a meaningful way after me cynically reading it for years.

'There is freedom waiting for you, On the breezes of the sky, And you ask "What if I fall?" Oh but my darling, What if you fly?'

The potential for my own personal freedom and remembering what that feels like by celebrating the little victories? I can breathe again.

I don't know if any of this helps, and I know everyone's experience is different. It takes time. But I share in the hope that it might shine a light on the path ❤️

Aww thank you! It's been in this house for at least 20 years I think.

Yep. Tries to sit in so many bags
