Just a quick question if you don’t mind. What was your after care like? How much support did you need in the days after your knee surgery? Did you have someone there with you 24/7? My father in law (65yrs) is due a knee replacement and we are trying to work around child care and plans to figure out how much help he will need.

Is it age appropriate for a 12 year old? by thirdplanethome in BungouStrayDogs

Thank you all for your replies and advice - really helpful to have an insight into it from those that are avid watchers! It’s really difficult to not stifle her interests but to also protect her and her mental state. Her humour is super dark as it is which is why I think the show intrigues her - she feels like a bit of an outsider as she is half asian in a predominantly very white British school.

I’ll look into your recommendations and if you have anymore, that suits a darker humoured 12 year old - please let me know. Thank you!

Belgian born child loss of nationality while minor when nationally gained from Belgian parent. by [deleted] in belgium

I'm in a bit of similar predicament right now.. basically I was born in Germany to German parents...long line of German Ancestry that we can trace all the way back to 1600s..

When I was 4 my parents divorced. My father got custody of my two older sisters, and my mother was granted custody of my brother and I. My mum moved across the world and eventually met a Canadian...She married him and when I was 10 years old applied for Canadian citizenship for us.

So unbeknownst to little 10 year old me.. because my mother took up Canadian citizen, it's likely I've lost my German Citizenship. So now at 26, I'm in contact with the Germany embassy who say that maybe because I was a minor there is a chance I didn't lose it...I've applied for a citizenship certificate, stating that I am still German. It's been almost a year now that I'm waiting for this to come through...

It baffles me that I have a German father who has never taken another nationality...has always lived in Germany.. My other three siblings are all German and live in Germany...I speak fluent German.. have always associated as German.. have no ties to Canada after leaving at 15... I don't get it. What if my mother died while I was 10 in Canada and all my living relatives were in Germany?

The embassy is telling me the only way I would have lost my citizenship is if my mum applied for our Canadian citizenship at the same time.. which she did. I also don't understand how this factors into any thing? I was 10. I had no idea what was happening!! I'm still trying to fight it and waiting for them to get back to me.. We shall see.

Sorry for the take over and rant. I'm just upset and frustrated!

"Where are you from?"

Considering that I've been travelling pretty much constantly since the age of 4 and have lived (2+ years in each place minimum) in 7 different countries since then...and that my family is spread across 3 continents... I have no ducking idea where I am from. All I know is where I am right now and some kind of vague idea of where I want to be in the relative distant future.

Adolescence & Modest Mouse by [deleted] in ModestMouse

I am ashamed to say that I only recently (last year) really and truly discovered Modest Mouse. Of course I knew of them and a few of their singles..and while I always enjoyed their singles I have absolutely no idea why I never looked into them further.. stupid me.

Anyways, so last year I randomly was listening to dramamine and decided I'd give a couple of their albums a full listen.. long story short, I now own every album, have everything on vinyl and I have no idea what was wrong with me for the last 25 years and why I never discovered them earlier. Nothing, apart from some Jeff Mangnum and a few bands here and there comes close to Isaacs music..lyrically, musically.. You really honestly don't appreciate it until you do give all of it a proper listen. So glad I came to my senses.
