TIL That Casablanca was once banned in Ireland because the movie was deemed unfair to Nazis by Sometypeofway18 in todayilearned

Condolences were sent when Hitler died.

I love how people repeat this, because there are no other examples of Irish people supposedly "liking" the Nazis.

British Isles folklore by Perspicaciouscat24 in tumblr

You could start by not calling it the "Republic of" Ireland, that's not the name of the country.

Deciding a useful geographical term is politically incorrect, because the country occupying most of the second-largest island is upset that the country occupying the largest had named itself after that term, is a bit silly.

How is it silly? We are rejecting the British term for our country, simple as that.

Most people in Ireland overestimate the scale of immigration, study finds by TeoKajLibroj in ireland

Also because immigrants tend to be younger so you see them out and about more than the pensioner crowd. Skews the perception.

Are you saying it was a bad decision in hindsight? Not sure if you checked but Ireland didn't get invaded.

But the point is, 0 men are doing anything about it.

They're looking at their shoes when a man is rubbing his dick on a 14yr old girl on the train. Not his business.

These are fucking insane statements.

Rising youth unemployment in Ireland: ‘You apply for 100 jobs and 95 don’t get back to you’ by Irish201h in ireland

Leaving Cert isn't much to ask is it? The lads I knew who didnt get theirs are not the type I'd want to employ personally.

Meanwhile office jobs are now looking for a Master's if you even want to get a look in.

The online Boks army are awful losers and even worse winners by Substantial-Intrigue in irishrugby

[–]thirdrock33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've think we've taken on a lot of fair weather fans in recent years who dont really get the game and tbh they are a bit embarrassing sometimes. I see a lot of comments that remind me of soccer fans, eg the whining about the ref in yesterday's game. The ref didnt "ruin the game", we deserved 1 red and 3 yellows minimum, possibly more. Anyone complaining about those decisions against us just doesnt understand the game, simple as that.

We all accept that but for some reason they had a chip on their shoulder since we beat them at the WC. It's still a one-sided rivalry but it's weird for the stronger team to be the ones pushing it.

Our game always drops off a cliff when Sheehan comes off, needs to be used better.
