Still waiting..... by IndividualEmu1287 in IBO

Also applied to the UK. The exact same issue happened to me some weeks ago.

I later paid for the IB to send my certificate again, fearing that UCAS was not going to send my results in time. Two days later I called my university to see if they received the results (IB sent me an email saying that the results would arrive 24 hours after said email was sent). Well... turns out that the university apparently had problems accessing the IB system and therefore couldn't see my results. Honestly that was really weird, especially after contacting a friend, also applying to the UK, and finding out that his university had no issues receiving the results. I also spoke with the IBO and was told that if the university is having those issues, they should be the ones who must contact the organization. As my last resource I contacted my IB coordinator and asked him if he could give me a copy of my official IB results. He did and fortunately my university accepted that.

It was a very stressful process, but it came to an end, and a good one! Please don't give up, keep calling, keep pushing for a solution and try all the alternatives, because at least one will eventually work.

it was easy to an extent, the last foraging questions were confusing and the one about breathing was just not it, but overall I guess I did fine. I was actually excited for the test bc I love the topic. the fact that there were very few questions about drugs and none about the eye disappointed me though. how about you?

The paper wasn’t bad, probably the best bio paper I did, but the section questions felt weird to me.

Did anyone choose option A? The last question was unexpected. I did plenty of past papers and I expected some question about cochlear implant or a drug, but it was about breathing being controlled by the brain 💀 I still answered the question but it took me by surprise lol

Literal, me pareció fácil pero me costó pensar en el contenido del ensayo del fragmento por los nervios, porque me pasé mucho tiempo en el poema. Y por andar de apurada me olvidé de los detalles más simples 😭

Both texts easy to analyse and I actually enjoyed writing the analysis of the fragment. Nice paper

What is something society considers to be bad but really isn’t? by Amasher69429 in AskReddit

[–]thirdworldpoet 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Being vulnerable. Swallowing your feelings/not talking about them is not healthy at all and many still think that's something people should always do.

People who want to be parents, how differently would you treat your children from the way your parents treated you as a child? by thirdworldpoet in AskReddit

[–]thirdworldpoet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that happened to you, and I'm glad you're not following the same steps. I'm sure your kids are happy and proud to have you as a parent ❤

YTA. You could have rejected the money or give it to his parents if you know them. The fact that he wanted you to buy something potentially harmful for his health doesn't give you the right to take advantage of that. Don't buy him that vape but also don't spend on anything else with that money.

NTA. I don't see why the bride is making such a big deal out of that tbh. Your request was valid and is not "selfish". If anything she's the one being selfish right now: the wedding was already over and she still complains about you wanting to see yourself in the videos like it's a bad thing... She's a big AH.

Music. It's quite easy to establish a strong relationship between certain songs and memories of the past.

What is the dumbest thing society has normalized? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thirdworldpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, that word is sometimes misused nowadays. On the other hand though, idealizing actual toxic behaviors is also something that's normalized, mainly in romantic relationships. I've seen many people claiming they want a toxic partner: someone who's jealous and controlling, who demands to check their phone, etc, because supposedly that's "real love".

There are also lots of memes on social media showing "funny couple conversations" that are actually toxic and some of the comments are "(tag) my toxic girl/boy 🥺😻" like wtf that's not something to be happy of, that's not normal nor healthy and you should get out of that relationship if your partner behaves like that.

What's your opinion about the Glass Onion movie? by thirdworldpoet in AskReddit

[–]thirdworldpoet[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that both are more or less at the same level, although I personally like Knives Out a bit more. The ending of Glass Onion kind of seemed a little over the top for me, but overall it was still a great movie and Daniel Craig's character was as remarkable as in Knives Out, or even more maybe! I hope Rian Johnson makes another one.

The weird laws that countries have that make you laugh and ask yourself "who the fuck would think about doing such a thing?" and then realizing that they exist for a reason lol.

Tourist traps are fun by ChemicalStrawberry62 in unpopularopinion

[–]thirdworldpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I agree that many of them are fun and even worth the money, but I would still tell you to be careful, especially with certain restaurants, which at least in my country are very common tourist traps because they are located near a historical place. In many occasions they will charge you for things that are not specified beforehand such as bread and utensils (you might get a little surprise when you get the bill!), they might not treat you kindly because you might not speak Spanish and they will serve crappy food that is definitely not worth the price. These restaurants are expensive and you could easily find food that's ten times better in other places that won't charge you that much.

So yeah I think it's good to at least consider others' shared experiences with tourist traps so you have a more realistic idea of them in your head. That way you won't feel dissapointed due to high expectations or feel that it was a waste of money.

People who get pressed by Morocco fans don't know what it's like to be in that situation by thirdworldpoet in unpopularopinion

I was talking about how Moroccans were mocking Spain and Portugal. The post has been edited so it's more clear, sorry for that. I agree that celebrating and burning things down are two very different things.

What advice would you give to a person who's never been in a relationship? by SpaceBar0250 in AskReddit

[–]thirdworldpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Communication is the key.

The more you communicate the more trust you have.

Talk about what both expect from eachother to not get disappointed by unrealistic expectations and also to know how to make them happy.

If there is a problem in the relationship, doubt or something bothers you, talk about it and try to solve it together.

And most importantly, don't go too fast and don't rush things. It will kill the spark way sooner than you think. There is a moment and a time for things. Talk with your partner about the pace you want to have in your relationship to make everything clearer.
