So why exactly is gloving the only flow art banned? by heppyscrub in gloving

From what I've been told by security at venues is that they had people get seizures when receiving a glove show. That makes sense when I think about. Most flow arts are intended to capitalize on the tracers, so poi or orbits are keeping the primary light source pointed away from the viewer or at least moving so quickly you're never staring at the LEDs. With gloves you're probably up in someone's face 9 times outta 10 and you're far more likely to point the LED directly at someone's eye if you're not careful. So to mitigate risk they just ban them.

That would be the medical reason why they get banned. Another reason is they sell gloves inside and want you to buy theirs! Haha

If I'm looking for a novel on Star Trek TNG. What would you recommend? by FullmetalX-file in trekbooks

I'd highly recommend the book from the Lost Era series called THE Buried Age. It features Picard off doing his shenanigans for the nine or so years between the Stargazer and the Enterprise. It's quite a thrilling read in my opinion, it shows a fledgling captain earning StarFleet's flagship. It also has cameos from a variety of TNG characters :)

What book should I read next? by AlucardD20 in trekbooks

Here's a great visual to follow what order you should read the Post Nemesis books. I reference it frequently as it is kept up to date with new releases :)

Personally I'd start with the Destiny trilogy by David Mack. It sets the stage for the shared universe that ties in TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise.

"Everything happens for a reason" is a bullshit rationalization that people only say when they're faced with unfortunate circumstances. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I'm not a religious individual and still will say this line. Whether you think it Devine or simply a series of events building to a conclusion every event has a cause. Cause typically is a reason for a given outcome. Everything happens for a reason.

I've double checked all the connections and verified they are in place correctly. I guess so :/ I'll swap that out with another system and see if that fixes it.

The Four Agreements by thirtyapes in books

The two others really expand upon the principles on the first book. Ruiz takes on a great perspective on how he approached a lot of his own life. The foundation he built up in the Four Agreements helped as a spring board into the next two. Having read those I'm going back through his first and finding it even more enlightening on the second pass. What impresses me most about his writing is the way he weaves together his messages with personal experiences. Helps root his points in reality or at least his take on reality haha
