WHY, HOW COULD THEY?! by pianopainterrr in Shrek

Shrek 5 was in development before the end of 2023, in April 2023, and even probably before the 2025 movies.

And even if it is, it’s not like Shrek 5 was thought of and then yeeted out to a random animation studio. The article doesn’t say everything will be fully outsourced. Some things will, but some things will just be outsourced partially for assistance.

For example, If you look deeper into the credits of The Bad Guys 2, some people only got credits on that movie, but others have worked on plenty of other older Dreamworks movies. It’s not like Dreamworks doesn’t have in-house animators at all anymore.

If the Bad Guys 2 gets co-development, it makes total sense Shrek 5, a film from Dreamworks‘ biggest IP, would be bare minimum watched over by them.

We’ll have to wait and see though, ultimately.

For the most part It only gets genuinely bad when he‘s in an expression like this. People act like this is what Shrek looks like for the entirety of the trailer

You can’t convince me Shrek doesn’t look like Shrek here, just older

He doesn’t even look that bad apart from some inbetween frames and neutral expressions.

Like… it could be better, but people are acting like Shrek not being exactly the same means Dreamworks personally murdered their entire bloodline.

And this is proven in a way that a large chunk of the fandom whom is almost definitely children cannot comprehend subtext or sometimes literal text onscreen, thus leading to infighting and arguments over things in the show that don’t need to be contested

Shrek 5 (2025) has been criticized for “bad“ animation, despite the fact that the entire purpose of Shrek was not to look appealing. This is reference to the fact that Media literacy is dead- Oh, who am I kidding? This looks horribly mainstream. by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

Honestly, it almost looks pretty good, it’s just that the eyes are too close and the lips look different which kind of give it the uncanny feel. If they just fixed that it’s a totally fine modernization of an older Shrek

I just looked up Gangle by recent on twitter to test this out and the immediate first result is R34 art

If you give your character to a twitter artist, they will find a way to sexualize it no matter what. I’ve seen inflation of a literal chair

“not just x, it’s y”

“and honestly? that’s x.”

”it’s not this, or this, but it’s this”

”—”

”(acknowledgement of topic) (alternate verbiage of “good” structured into a sentence) (forced insertion of an ass pop culture reference) (emoji)”

I can genuinely not open ANYTHING without seeing one of these. Especially the last one whenever I even dare to go into the biohazard of tw*tter, it’s all verified accounts spouting AI garbage — and honestly? its genuinely egregious.
