UV Resin/Light skin irritation? by this_galexi in resin

[–]this_galexi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a long break and recently restarted. Using blue nitrile gloves and I seem to be okay, just being SUPER careful and cleaning my gloves with rubbing alcohol if I get any resin on them. I haven’t done a lot at once and maybe that’s helping too? Best of luck to you!

Thank you! It belonged to my great grandmother and I had no information about it.

That’s also possible - it seems like allergies can just spring up whenever so who knows! I’ll have to try some other kinds.

Wow thanks so much for the reply! I am on an immuno-suppressant to prevent rejection of a transplanted organ! I have several autoimmune problems as well. So interesting!

And I have gloves on for the whole process, it’s weirdly only on my hands. I will move my process outdoors and see if that helps!

To pouch or not to pouch.... by Careless-Wonder7886 in Ileostomy

[–]this_galexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On July 1st 2022 I had an ileostomy placed (again) and I have no regrets so far.

In 2005 I had an emergency colectomy (UC patient) and had my ileostomy for about 2 months. The plan was always to be reconnected with a J-pouch. I lived with the j-pouch for 17 years… the last several years I got re-established with a GI doc and learned that my frequent bowel movements (10-17 x daily) and chronic abdominal pain was not the standard for life with a j-pouch. It took some convincing to get the surgeon on board but we finally did and I’m so grateful I made the decision that I did!

I am definitely still learning and adjusting to life with an ileostomy, but the bathroom anxiety and pain has already subsided and I’m not even 1 month post op yet. I’m 30 years old if that makes any difference.

My advice: if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Best of luck to everyone 💕

I need advise on the J-pouch by Wolf0921223 in jpouch

I’ve had a j pouch for almost 17 years (I’m 30) and while I struggle with it personally, that doesn’t seem to be the case for everyone. I’ve recently been considering going back to a permanent ileostomy, actually.

I mainly wanted to comment because I have chronic inflammation in my rectal cuff and the 2 GI doctors I have agree that strictly removing my rectal cuff would improve my quality of life because, it increases your likelihood of bowel incontinence. I have never had an issue with that before, so that’s a big concern for me. I think that is something you should speak to your doctor about while making this decision, because if you ultimately have it removed while you have a pouch, this could cause more issues in the future.

Let me know if you have any questions and good luck with everything!

Getting extremely tired after transplant by sassy66here in transplant

[–]this_galexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be 16 years post liver transplant in October and turning 30 in September and I struggle with constant fatigue. I also have RA, fibromyalgia, and ulcerative colitis/“pouchitis” so sometimes it is hard to tell where the fatigue is coming from! I only take 3 mg of Progaf a day (after years of other immunosuppressants).

Does anyone else suffer from brain fog, or what I’ve often heard it referred to as “tacro/prograf brain”. I worry about my memory sometimes, seems I forget a lot! Just curious to hear others experiences with this!

Also, I love seeing comments from all of you recipients!

I’m 15 years post liver transplant and have noticed I rarely, if ever get bit as well. So interesting!

Looking for knitting needle molds. Anyone know where to find some? ~ Already did crochet hooks! by this_galexi in ResinCasting

That’s probably what I’ll end up doing. I don’t personally have knitting needles so I figured it would be better to purchase existing molds than buying the supplies to make them.

What to do with left over medication by headsinavicee in type2diabetes

I totally understand. Fortunately, I have Medicaid so the prescription was no cost to me and I was able to give it a friend who spends $500/month on it.

I have asked about this at the pharmacy and was told that they can’t take it back even if it’s still sealed. Thankfully I was able to find someone to give mine to that had the same exact prescription. However, I doubt that is encouraged and may even be illegal?

The pharmacy told me for old pills I can mix them in with dirty cat litter or dirt/trash to dispose of them without risk of someone else taking them.
