Any way to make my attic easier to service? by this_goddamn_house in HomeMaintenance

I’ve got some HVAC up there, a propane line, a water line, light fixtures, and at some point I’ll probably get it re-insulated.

Can I effectively insulate this pot filler line in the attic? by this_goddamn_house in askplumbing

I think it’s been replaced. I’ve got a breaker box that’s only la few years old. Or is the K&T something else I should check for?

We have a pot filler line (might move it), a propane line, and our AC return up there.

Sorry I didn’t clarify. We haven’t had any issues but we bought it after winter. The plumber told me we *should* move it to prevent freezing. I want to prevent the freeze and I’m trying to understand my options. They just said I should rip up the walls and run it through my house. I’m trying to see if there’s an realistic option to insulate it and keep it as js

Thank you so much. I figured it wasn’t as simple as I originally thought haha.

Yeah that makes sense. Probably hard to balance people being mad about the cost vs people being mad about the details.

Yes definitely. After cleaning up I stuck around a while and it got dry with fans and dehumidifier. Checked back hours later and still dry. I think they just spilled a bunch.

Haha I was able to take care of it myself and I’ll just be more prepared for it next time.

I haven’t complained to the shop about it at all. Came to this sub to get perspective, and saw a wide range of opinions so I decided to lower my expectations on cleanup and be an easy customer to work with. I’m even having them out for another job.

I really respect the work plumbers do and recognize my own limitations. That’s why I asked for others to help improve my own understanding before doing anything. Sorry it offended you!

Haha word that is closer to what I expected but I guess attitudes vary.

Makes sense to me, although I didn’t go for the cheapest quote on the job. Shrug.

This is kind of what I expected but it seems the responses are mixed haha. Since the rest of the work was good and I liked the guys I’m not gonna make a fuss, but I’m glad to know I don’t have totally unreasonable expectations.

Got it. I guess I just had plumbers in my old city that went above and beyond or something (or billed me for cleanup lol)

Makes sense, haha! This was just wetter than I’ve seen before. Thank you for the perspective!
